“My trip from the USA to Delft Holland”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

I liked everything. The town is beautiful and the Johannes Vermeer Hotel is a very nice place. The rooms were clean, the people working there were nice and helpful and the breakfast was super.

“Photogenic”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

If you're coming from the Delft train station, Oostport is on the opposite side of it. Good thing Delft is compact, you can easily make the effort to walk there since it's very photogenic and if you pass through the gates, you can imagine merchants and travellers entering the town of Delft during medieval times.

Upon entering, just go straight, keep the towers in front of you and follow the path and you'll be in the Markt in no time.

“One of the nicest cities in the Netherlands”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

I have been to Delft three times and will surely find my way back there again. If visiting Delft the best place to stay is in Oude Delft, the historic centre of the city. This is mainly a pedestrian only area. The buildings are beautiful and the market square is always a hub of activity. A visit to Oostpoort is well worth the 15 minute walk. The Dutch people are always friendly and willing to help you find your way around. It is one of the easiest countries to travel in Europe if you only speak English. Delft is a much smaller city than some of its neighbours, like Amsterdam and Rotterdam. In a word, I would describe it as "quaint". And of course, rent a bike and tour the city the "Dutch way".

“Lovely town gate”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

The Oostpoort is the only remaining town gate in Delft. The gate is around 600 years old and is designed using a certain style of Gothic architecture, which stands out from any other structure in Delft. There is also a little bridge near the Oostpoort which somehow makes the gate more interesting. A very photogenic and very historic place.

“A forgotten part of Delft”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

The Oostpoort is a delightful corner of Delft a little way off the usual tourist run. Apart from the Gate and, the bridge and the canal, there is nothing else there but it's a great photo opportunity.
