“Spend the afternoon here.”

A great place to get the feel of the old part of Holland and its history. The only thing is I though Wellington won the battle of Waterloo, not William of Orange. The paintings are excellent

“Small town museum world class art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

Visited the Dordrechts Museum today to see the special exhibit now running that is a collection of art from and of King Willem II of the Netherlands. It will be ending on 15 June 2014 but with a world class Rembrandt in this exhibit it is well worth the trip to Dordrecht.

I heard that the museum was closed for two years in order to make upgrades to the facilities. It has a wonderful collection of art from 1600- 1900's and when you think you have seen it all then the special exhibit shows off the vast wealth and depth of the Dutch monarchy. Wonderfully done. I spent 3 hours walking through this museum. Dordrecht is also a wonderful town to find other treasures as it dates centuries as being the town where the rivers meet a harbor town for trade. This was a wonderful day out. Easy to reach from Amsterdam by train. Short walk to the museum and then a coffee in the old town square. Perfect for everyone. Happy Travel Planning!

“Great little museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

The exibitions are changing a couple of times a year, and they are allways interesting.
The exibition about the art of King Willem the second was good. They showed a Rembrandt a did really like, and the paintings came from all over the world.

“Great, divers collection”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014

We visited the museum this weekend and were surprised by the large, divers collection. We viewed paintings by regional artists, but there were also vases and cabinets. Also, there were various temporary exhibitions which make it a pleasure to return again in the future. The building itself is beautiful. Last but not least, the cafe / restaurant is a nice place to have a coffee or snack and take a rest after you've visited the museum. Real nice setting and kind personnel. A visit of the whole museum (two stories) takes about 1.30 / 2.00 hours.

“A well hidden surprise.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2013

The Dordrechts Museum is a well hidden, but pleasant surprise. Located in an ordinary city street it suddenly presents itself in a building with undeniable grandeur. The collection of art is worth a visit and the museum café serves nice snacks after your tour.
