Located on the banks of a river the view is pretty, to say the least. The most spectacular about this restaurant is the food though. And this is why you go to a restaurant in the first place. The menu is fixed, no a-la carte and can change from day to day depending on what is available. The taste is very good and the food is well prepared. I can't recall many restaurants where I've eaten so well. This restaurant shows just how little care other put into preparing the vegetables. Given that there is no meat served here, it is crucial that this restaurant does of course.

We came across this B&B while looking for a place to stay near the national parks. The B&B is a very simple set up with only a handful of rooms, with a lounge in its own room (i.e. not part of the bedroom) facing the lakes. The ensemble is managed by a very friendly Dutch couple, with the husband being the chef for the vegetarian restaurant downstairs.

Rooms are tidy and clean, lounge is equipped with a small kitchen area and cupboard, fridge, basic cutlery set and utensils, electric cooker and kettle, and clean tea towels. Seating area comprised of sofa, a small tv, very comfortable and cosy, there were even home made biscotti!

The main business is perhaps the restaurant which is often fully booked. We're not vegetarian but decided to try the 3-course set dinner and it was delicious. Each course was prepared with care and such great detail that eating itself was a real enjoyment. The atmosphere was great and the windows looked out to the lakes.

Breakfast each morning was home made and beautifully presented, really excellent. Bikes were available for hire from the B&B to cycle around the fields. The area is very remote and there were no shop or other restaurant in the vicinity. We noticed that most of the other guests only stay 1 night. Nearest major towns are Rotterdam and Dordrecht, but shops close very early in the Netherlands (5 or 6pm and closed on Sundays) so it's best to make plan.

Although we're not vegetarians, we loved the vegetarian (and biological) food. The hospitality was very good and the place charismatic. Also the vicinity of the river and the green an quite environment contributed to an excellent stay.

I can't believe that no one has reviewed this place. I've been here 5-10 times in the last three years or so, never disappointed. It is innovative and vegetarian and delicious. I'm not a vegetarian by any stretch, and I happily would dine there more often if I lived closer. It's especially nice during good weather, because it's located right next to the Maas. The drive there can be quite breathtaking and bucolic. It has what has been described a modernist upscale look. The service is very friendly and down to earth. The 10 course tasting menu on Monday is not to be missed (for 30-35 EUR). From my friend's review elsewhere "Highlights of previous visits include: yellow beet 'caviar'; fresh gazpacho; asparagus with Parmesan curls, creme-fraiche and herbs; portobello pate on toast with a 'shot' of sesame bouillon; hot and spicy coconut curry with mango rice; a warm wrap of red pepper and eggplant, with avocado cream; nut bread with warm chevre, sliced pear and balsamic reduction; Moroccan dessert pastry with apples, raisins and lemon sorbet." Hands down, my favorite place to eat in the NL.
