Because of the steep stairs in the mill this is not a place that is suitable if you are less able to walk. I would also recommend a good pair of shoes instead of high heels..

I felt like the experience was definitely worth the time, but not until I intentionally slowed down and really looked closer, did I get that these windmills evolved into thriving businesses that really aided people in their everyday lives. From grinding corn to make flower to pumping water and many other things that were made easier by having a way to mechanically do the work. Really made me think about the creativity and hard work that went into these amazing wind machines. Highly recommend going as high as possible, the stairs are a little steep but really solid! The view of the city and the workmanship on the components can justify any efforts!

Leiden, Netherlands. The city it's self is like a mini Amsterdam with out the over crowding. The lovely mills are a must see. I rode bike all over and was lucky to have a friend with a small boat, so he showed me everything by water. Absolutely a beautiful town, nice folks. Everyone one was kind and helpful. Leaden is a short trip on the train from the airport.. I was lucky tone able to stay with a local. They took me on 40-40 mile bike rides daily. Truly an awesome place.

I liked the whole set up, centrally located. The windmill blades do not operate everyday. Only drawback is it is not open on Mondays

This is a windmill museum in a windmill. You can see the rooms the miller would have lived in, and then climb up to the top of the windmill and walk out on the platform around the sails (if you dare!) Really good value at just 4 euros each.
