We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a 2 month trip through Europe. B&B's in Holland are different from what we experienced elsewhere, at least this one was! Our loft room was at the top of the house, up 4 flights of narrow stairs. We travelled light on a rail pass- don't come here if you have large suitcases, because you will have trouble getting them upstairs! There are 2 other guest rooms at present, and all three share the same very small toilet. We had booked an ensuite room, but although the shower and wash basin were in our room, literally, the toilet was not! We were disappointed by this, and would have preferred not to have to negotiate one flight of narrow stairs to the toilet at night, when turning on any light does disturb other guests (glass above doors).
That said, the bedroom was bright, clean, newly renovated, and comfortable, with good bedside shelving, and one small mirror. The living area (a separate room) was surprisingly well furnished. There was a door onto a small roof area from this room, but it had no view. If the door latched when you were on the roof, watch out, as it could not be opened from outside. We were supplied with a kettle etc. when we complained that there was none. The bedroom had nowhere to hang any clothing, although we noticed that the other rooms had coat racks.
The other 2 rooms share a lovely large modern bathroom, which had a large corner bath and not one but 2 showers and 2 wash basins (no toilet) Our room had a TV, the other rooms did not. One of the other rooms had a large dining room table in it, one had no bedside tables.
Breakast is a small buffet, reaonable, but no fruit, except apples. There was muesli, yogurt, orange juice, boiled egg, some usual meats and cheese, rolls and cake.
When we arrived we were greeted by the host, Ingrid, but we never saw her again. Different staff people arrived to arrange breakfast. Our room was never cleaned during our stay, though the toilet was cleaned daily.
The house is like a tall town house. It is in a quieter part of town. Canals abound in Leiden, bicycles too. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Choose the Greek restaurant nearby. Amazing!!! We chose Leiden in order to visit Keukenhof Gardens. Wonderful!
