A return visit to Holiday Inn, Leiden once again to attend a major event in the city. Had a slight problem on arrival which was quickly dealt with, the reservation made over the phone had somehow become downgraded from my expected room quality. Ample car parking meant we could park outside our room so luggage was transferred easily and quickly using the lift and a short walk to the room. Rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed making a stay here restful and pleasant. Soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, except for the windows which might as well not be there in terms of keeping unwanted corridor noise out - hence the complimentary earplugs by the bed! This really needs to be addressed as a group of loud teenagers loitering on the corridor woke us at 1.15am, spoiling a good night's sleep. Breakfast always tends to be an adventure here, how many times do you need to walk around the buffet trying to find your food items? Great range of hot, cold, sweet, savoury dishes with just about every option catered for. If you need to go into Leiden centre, leave the car in the hotel and walk round the corner to catch a €2 bus ride to the central station - quicker, easier and cheaper than driving.

Room Tip: Executive rooms offer an attractive package for a few €s more than Super rooms

The hotel location is great as central place to stay and go travel on the western side of Holland (and also for the central part).
The breakfast is fair and good.
The only problem I encountered are the "double" beds - they are not really suitable for two adults.

Dear Shahar, Thank you for taking the time to write this great review. Please accept our apologies for the beds not being big enough. Did you know we have rooms with a bed of 1.80 and also rooms with a bed of 2x2m. Please reserve one of these room types on your next visit, thank you. We look forward to welcoming you back soon when visiting beautiful Leiden. The Holiady Inn Leiden Team

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Leiden for two nights with my family of 6. We booked two adjoining rooms, 1 adult and 2 children in each room. The rooms are small, barely enough room for walking space between the two double beds and the desk. When you open the connecting doors you block the only closet in the room. Our rooms were inside and right near the ping pong table and children's play area. It was okay for us, but people unused to children may be annoyed by the constant noise. The food was good at the buffet breakfast and the area is very pretty. There is a fountain with fish and turtles that was beautiful and fun. The hidden fees were for the "free breakfast" and the "free wifi." The breakfast is included for one adult and 1 child under the age of 11 per room. So children 11 or older have to pay as an adult and if you have two adults in the room, one is not free. The Internet is free for 1 MB and is super super slow. Not 100 MB or 1 GB, 1 MB is all you get. If you want unlimited high speed internet you have to pay 15 Euro per day per room. The pool is nice and I found the atmosphere to be relaxing and enjoyable despite the flaws. Guests from other countries should know that the provided TV is only in Dutch. It doesn't bother me, less TV for my kids to ask to watch on our vacation. Also the syrup that is served with the pancakes is like molasses, not maple syrup that Americans are used to, so go easy. Enjoy your trip!

We have been staying at this hotel for a few years now and tend to book a room here when we are visiting friends and relatives in the area 2 to 3 times a year. This hotel works for us, perfect central location to explore Amsterdam, Haarlem, the Hague, Delft and the beach in neighbouring Noordwijk and Scheveningen. It is also very near the Keukenhof and flower fields. This hotel is child friendly, offers family rooms, a play area and has a gym and indoor swimming pool + sauna. The hotel feel like a safe place to stay at with children and the buffet style dinners + breakfast are a treat. For those who would like to stay here as a couple, I would opt to go somewhere else!

Room Tip: When staying with children, opt for an inner circle hotel room!

Hello Flying-Dutch-Lady! Nice review, thank you so much. Your kind words will be shared with all staff. During the weekend and school holidays the hotel can be busy with families, enjoying a nice break here in Leiden. Please note teh hotel rooms on the exterior side of the hotel are somewhat more quiet, these can be booked in advance. Again, thank you. We look forward to welcoming you back real soon. Kindest regards, The Holiday Inn Leiden Team
