We really enjoyed staying at this fabulous, small, friendly B & B. We stayed in the downstairs room, right on the street & were a little concerned that it would be noisy. We were surprised to find that it was quiet & we had excellent nights' sleep there. Great bed & great shower. The dining room is gorgeous, especially if you can get a window seat; eat breakfast looking over the canal. Good choices at breakfast & they provided us with gluten free bread. Leiden is pretty & a pleasant place to wander around - watch out for the cyclists though as they will not watch out for you.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. From the outset we were made to feel at home and this theme continued through the visit.

It has a very picturesque location beside a canal and not too far from the town centre. We never ate in the evening but the breakfasts were very good.

Our bedroom was quite spacious but the bathroom was a wee bit small but had all the necessary fitments. It is appreciated that there must be certain restrictions in a old property like this.

During our stay I unfortunately acquired the Leiden Flu and Gaston could not have been more attentive. He even extended our stay in the room, without asking and without charge, to link in with our departure time. Customer service at its best.

We would thoroughly recommend this boutique hotel and hope to return one day and do the things the flu prevented us doing.

A really small boutique hotel in Leiden, demonstrating the Dutch hospitality. It is run by a very friendly family, the rooms (I stayed in the loft) are very nice with a view on the canal. The only negative point was that the room was not so clean. Breakfast although small, the quality was good. I would certainly stay there again.

charming, meticulously renovated canal house, owners are very nice and accommodating, breakfast was good. The "bridal suite" is not set up for a female bride, no place to put on makeup, but charming nonetheless. A steep staircase to the second and third floors, but they take care of moving your luggage, which is good. If you have bikes, they store them in a garage overnight.

Fantastic stay at this fabulous small hotel. Everything from warm welcome, lovely room, beautifully presented and wonderfully cooked breakfast was simply wonderful. The hotel is small and intimate, owners and staff are very friendly and do all they can to make your stay here great. Would definitely go back and cannot recommend highly enough. Leiden itself is a brilliant city break; very pretty, loads of great restaurants, interesting museums and that pretty canals to meander around on boats, bikes or foot. Forget Amsterdam go to Leiden and stay here.

My husband and I stayed two night in this amazing B & B. We stayed in the loft room, the stairs are steep but well worth it. Uninterrupted view of the canal out the front with two large windows that let plenty of air into the room.
Only draw back for us was walking distance to quality restaurants but if your happy with pub, they are really close by. Getting around Leiden was easy ad the B & B has two bikes available to use if you need them.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely with fresh coffee and eggs the way you like it.
Staff were pleasant and eager to help.
Would defiantly recommend Huys Van Leyden

This was the coolest place we stayed in on our trip to the Netherlands (maybe the most charming place I've ever stayed!). If you can, you MUST try to stay in the unit that used to be the servant's quarters - it's a split level with a small living room space, efficiency kitchen and nice bathroom on the first and lovely bedroom on the second floor. There's a short twisty staircase up to the second floor that might give some trouble but should be no problem for most. The best part is the bedroom has direct access to the shared deck.

We regrettably had only one night in Huys van Leyden, but made the most of it by enjoying the hot tub upon arrival and digging into the very reasonable mini bar snacks and wine. Gaston (?) was also a great host and made us feel very at home. In the morning, we not only had a generous buffet style spread for breakfast, but he took individual orders for omelets and things. We ate like kings/queens in the nicely decorated dining room.

This is also located very centrally along the canals and easily walk-able to shops and restaurants. I really hope to make it back someday!
