“Ideal location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2014

This hotel is located pretty much perfectly. We stayed for 6 nights and celebrated the New Years here. I was extremely satisfied with the service at this hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had our dinner downstairs right next door at a restaurant called Vapiano, we had some leftovers that we placed in the fridge, and as the food was cold I went down to the restaurant and they were nice enough to heat it up for us. We found the service just amazing. The room was very clean. The slight disadvantage was the price of wi-fi in the room. However this is not uncommon as we have come across other hotels who charged even more. I shall definitely come back to Manhattan Hotel the next time I plan to visit Rotterdam.

can't add too much to most of the reviews already posted, it's a fine hotel with wonderful staff in a great location. directly opposite the main railway station but the area is very calm & very safe. newly rebuilt Centraal Station is a moderist architectural beauty, the plaza outside that connects to The Manhattan now all but fully landscaped (January 2014), don't be put off by old photos of when construction work was under way (glad I missed those years). location of hotel is perfect, a five minute walk to the city's main shopping district, Lijnbaan, and a short walk to the historic seaport.

Dear LondonGraeme,

I would like to thank you for staying with us recently and sharing your experiences online, this is much appreciated. I am proud to learn that you have experienced the Manhattan Hotel exactly the way we envisage it to be, comfortable hotel on a superb location with wonderful attentive staff.

The vicinity of the hotel had its challenges during the construction works over the past years but is now facing the official opening mid-March, needless to say we are really looking forward to this!

Again, many thanks for visiting us; we look forward to welcome you back in the hotel someday!

We came for New Years Eve, and they let us in for dinner even though it was basically fully booked. had a nice meal with good wine and excellent service.. It is very central, right opposite the train station.. but nevertheless it is not in the shopping area or the bar scenery, which makes you feel like on an Island.. Overall we enjoyed it very much, it is good for a business trip not so much for a city trip I would say...

Dear Julien_Pollock,

I would like to thank you for your stay with us and taking some time to share your thoughts with fellow travelers, I really appreciate this. I am happy to read that you had a comfortable stay in the hotel and also enjoyed your dinner experience.

I must agree with you on the location of the hotel, really convenient for business; however also located right next to the city center! Shopping starts right around the corner, be sure to come by the Concierge desk during your next visit to Rotterdam.

Great hotel, with great and friendly staff. The hotel rooms offer a great view of the city and it's harbor. The hotel is next to the main shopping area and the next to the central station.

The breakfast is excellent and it's one of these hotels who offer decent (free) espresso in the room (illy).

If you have time to go sightseeing I would suggest to use one of the bikes which you can reserve at the reception.

we had a wonderful stay in the Manthatton in Rotterdam. It is comfortable, it is quiet despite the train station accross the road and the staff were so friendly with us! We really could not believe that a city hotel could present itself with so much charm and an authentic feeling of hospitality! It was perfect and the manager even organised a little present for us! Amazing

Room Tip: Take a room on the executive floor !!

wondererd how to describe this fine hotel in a word, but after a deep thought, the only idea that occurs to me is location. It is immensely useful when travelling around Europe by train, because it's located across the street when leaving Rotterdam Centraal, which makes it a wonderful HQ when in Rotterdam or nearby cities.
It's a few minutes walk far from The Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, and De Doelen concert Hall and central Rotterdam is even closer-around 5 minutes walk.
Furthermore, I can say this is a big hotel (in fact it's huge) BUT it's not great. I'm still wondering why it's self-proclaimed as a 5 star hotel.
It is a good and comfortable 4 stars hotel, nothing else to say. They still practice this hideous use of charging for wi-fi (at a not so moderate price:EUR 22,50 for 24 hours access), leaving the guest access the internet for 2 hours on the lobby.
Wow! For a 5 stars hotel this is being cheap, isn't it?

Good and polite multilingual staff (even if a little impersonal, but nothing that matters) completes the initial scene. Complimentary biscuits and cakes and free soft drinks throughout the day are offered in the lobby, which is is HUGE, with the elevator towers on the right side with an excellent safety system: you only have access to your room and your level with your key.

Moderate size rooms - 27 m2 each (very good for Europe), with lots of amenities like complimentary coffee and tea, a kettle and coffee maker, safe and a fridge and the usual pricey minibar is what you're getting for € 195-250 (depending on which room type you're choosing) .
Brand new and clean carpet and an excellent soundproof room (this is a plus on this hotel- there was a person studying violin in the room next door - no audible sound from inside!
Main problem remains here: illumination! The room is DARK! As deep purple are the corridors walls and floors. It seem s like entering London Dungeon. Oh, well, there is light, but the deep purple is opperssive, almost feeling like walking into the "Twilight Zone".
What the hell some hoteliers think about the guests are? Owls? Bats?
And we even have a working desk in the room-either suitable for day work or night TV watching...Because writing or reading inside the room at night is a hard job with so little illumination.
Even with ALL the lights on, luminosity was SO weak I couldn't find a locket I've accidentally dropped. I've only succeeded after using the torch I always bring to inspect the room...
By the way: cleanliness is a top issue on this hotel.
Bedsheet, towels, pillows, mattress and behind the bed: everything was immaculate.
Beware, though, because it's announced on the site as "marble bathroom with a separate shower and luxurious toiletries". Marble? Knock on the "marble" walls-they sounded like wooden tiles to me... Luxurious toilettries? Only if you call TWO 20 ml tiny little bottle of shower gel and another 20 ml shampoo bottle along with body lotion and a plastic shower cap. Luckily there was bar soap on the sink... It is a facility, all right, but luxurious toiletries are those from Palazzo Manfredi - Relais & Chateaux in Rome, The Ritz Carlton, Berlin, Four Seasons Hotel Prague or Studios 1-2-3, just to stay nearby...
There is also a couple of robes and slippers available - common in Japan, but very hard to find in Europe. Thumbs up!
Air conditioning system is a little tricky, but not impossible to control. How about a hint about it in the hotel directory??
The overall appearance is good, and the stay was nice and smooth, but the sumptuous "5 stars" tag looks a little bit exaggerate for this fine, very well located hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the elevator. Don't worry. The rooms are quiet, and the corridor is huge.

Many thanks for your recent stay in The Manhattan Hotel Rotterdam. We appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts on your stay with us, since it is with these comments we can improve our product & service.

Needless to say the location of the hotel is comfortable, as are the quiet, clean rooms and its amenities; rest assured that real marble is used in our bathrooms.
