“Cheap and good”
Reviewed 29 April 2013

Spent 3 days in the hotel and it was okay. Breakfeast was decent, room was spacious, and its not far off from the city centre by walk. ITs also situated on the river so it was nice to have a good view out of the hotel in he morning/evening.

My dad recently came to Rotterdam to visit me and stayed at the maritime hotel for 2 days. After staying for many years at Hotel New York and the Bilderberg , he was looking for a cheaper alternative. For 55 euro per nigh ex breakfast he was not disappointed. The single rooms are small and the decoration is minimal but the beds are comfy and it is suitable for a couple of nights if on business or as a solo traveler. Small bathrooms with shower only. Perfect location in one of the nicest areas of Rotterdam. Loads of restaurants and café about - Nul 10,Loos... - and even a small boulangerie to get a tasty breakfast in the morning.

No frills and a bit dated hotel, but a comfortable night's sleep. Good location for offices on the other side of Erasmus bridge and decent selection of local restaurants. Next time will select deluxe room category.though

Some rooms in this hotel have probably the best views in Rotterdam. Excellent.

Our top floor river view room was very compact but modern and comfortable. It was quiet at night.
Standards of cleanliness were good throughout.

Check in was quick and easy. The hotel is at the last stop on tram 7 route direction Willemsplein. It is just across the road from the Spido boats and the Waterbus so could not be better location if you want to travel around.

The one problem was the breakfast. The dining room had little natural light, very dated décor and no cooked food. The 4 staff who guarded the tinned fruit and carton juice each morning seemed amazed at requests for things like toast. Cooked food was not an option. Even though we paid 110 euro per room per night we were expected to clear away the dishes we used at breakfast. This is certainly not what normally happens. So for a variety of reasons I would advise against getting breakfast at this hotel.

Room Tip: High floor and river view

This hotel is ideally located next to the Erasmus bridge which is one of the touristic attraction in Rotterdam. Tram 7 from Rotterdam central station stops directly infront of the hotel. The closest metro station Leuvehaven is about 10 minutes by walk. The hotel staff were nice and friendly. We booked a comfort twin room which does not face the river side. The rooms were small but in general clean except for the pillow covers which were little untidy. We could not sleep peacefully at night as we could hear a lot of noise outside our room at times. The buffet breakfast served in the morning was very basic and there is nothing great to write about it.There is free WIFI throughout the hotel. All in all,the location factor is one of the best plus points and rest is all pretty average.

Room Tip: Rooms with river side facing.Hopefully there would not be any kind of noise at night :)

i had to book at the last minute and my first choices in rotterdam were all full. after reading the reviews on tripadvisor i was hesitant but booked the maritime.
the hotel location is great, my room was clean and functional and the view lovely. i would avoid the restaurant but there are plenty within walking distance (there is a lovely place right under the adjacent bridge).
for about $140 for a decent sized room with private bath, a lovely view and complimentary breakfast and internet in a european city, i'd say the maritime is a good deal.

We paid a bit extra for a room overlooking the Maas, which was just beautiful, especially at night. The room was a bit small, with nowhere to lay out the suitcase and no drawer space at all for tee shirts jumpers and underwear. Most of the hanging space was taken up by a huge supplementary heater, which we had no need of even though the temperatuire outside was well below freezing all the time. Everything was spotless. The breakfast was pretty good - cheese, sausage, vegetables, fruit bread cakes and endless beverages. Tram stop and waterbus stop right outside the hotel.. Metro stop round the corner. Tram direct to the station.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the river side. Buy a two- or three-day public transport ticket (half-price for o...
