“Very underrated”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Delfshaven is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Rotterdam which is still intact. It is a wonderful place to walk around, visit the local brewery, have a taste of the local brew and enjoy the old buildings which go back to the 1600's. For both Americans and Englishmen, there is an added bonus because this is the place where the Pelgrimfathers started there historical journey to the US as can be learned from the many signs explaining the history of this neighborhood.
So yes you should take out half a day to visit this place which think is highly underrated and deserves more attention from both tourist and locals alike.

“Authentic Netherlands”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

This is the only "Dutch" part of Rotterdam so you must come down here - easy to reach by tram or metro. The morning we came was very quiet and it is a very small area so quick to wander round. May be better in an evening when the restaurants etc open as there would be more atmosphere

Very pretty and nice place to stroll and have a coffee. Good place to get some "arty" photos. Well connected on tram routes 8, 21, 24.

“Don't Miss It”

Small in size, large in impact. What remains of the old city after Nazi bombing in WW2. See the church US Pilgrims prayed in before setting off to Plymouth Rock

“Parking made difficult”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Nice suburb (2 streets around a canal) but no way to park although there was plenty of parking spots. Weekdays until 18h, you have to pay for parking in the streets (like in most of Netherlands). However in Rotterdam, you cannot pay by cash nor by Visa/Mastercard. You used to pay with parking cards. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY DON'T SELL THEM ANYMORE. You now have to pay with you phone when you have a bank account in Netherlands! Not tourist friendly at all. No warning from the tourist office either. The 3 ALTERNATIVES are public parking (building - Not availale in Delfshaven), taking the risk to have a fine or going there at night/on sundays.
