Quite typical for a good Italian restaurant: from the outside it looks like crap – a dull concrete building and the cheap sign even says “pizzeria”. But when you dare to enter Ristorante Pizzeria Messina all the good things is starting – from a pleasant atmosphere to the warm welcome from the staff or even the owner.
Drinks and starters came fast and the service was fantastic all evening.
We (a party of 10) had a wave of different starters, all delicious and typical Italian dishes. All most too much.
Main dishes were praised by everybody. I had the most fantastic lamp chops. Not much to go with it though, but so it is.
My tiramisu was delicate, but a bit too much wipe cream cake to my taste.
Wine card is not big, but has a good variety of Italian reds, though the selections of whites were a bit narrow. Decent prices and good quality, only one wine getting into the 60 Euro range. Apart from the wine list they had a white and red Sicilian wine from the same house – the white was excellent and full bodied the red too harsh to my taste.
