This is one of the vast chain of Holiday Inn Express hotels around the world. Like most of the others, it offers budget accommodation to a high standard in convenient locations.

The room consists of a bed, an en suite bathroom and a TV, with a good sized work area and free wifi. Rooms are clean, modern and functional, but not really suited to more than a short stay, lacking storage space.

The hotel is central to Rotterdam, with shops, cafes, restaurants and IMAX cinema in close proximity. This is useful as the hotel does not offer a restaurant, has no room service and has limited vending machine contents.

Staff are friendly, mufti-lingual and helpful.

Business services are a little basic, with any print jobs having to be emailed from the lobby PC or personal notebook PCs to the hotel front desk before printing.

Overall, a good hotel for short visits where you do not anticipate spending much time in the hotel or your room.

This hotel is a very short walk from the central station. The room was basic but had everything I needed, and the price was very reasonable for a city-centre location. The staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful. Free WiFi is a bonus. There are many bars and restaurants a few minutes walk away. As others have noted, the street-level frontage is unobtrusive and easy to miss.

I stayed here recently for a business trip to a company nearby. I emailed in advance that I'm a light sleeper (another benefit of getting old...) and they booked me a room on the top floor, at the end of a corridor, facing away from the main road. I didn't hear a thing all night! Coupled with the comfortable bed and really firm pillows I had three great nights' sleep. (As a side note, why do so many hotels say they have firm pillows, only for you to discover that they're just slightly more resistant than their normal ones that are made of strawberry mousse?)

Tea and coffee making facilities in the room with air-con if you need it. A nice bathroom, with a huge walk-in shower (although sadly no bath).

There's no restaurant at the hotel, but there are plenty in the surrounding streets and the staff were happy to point these out on a map. Breakfast was the traditional European cold meat / cheese / bread / cereal / fruit affair, plus Dutch sprinkles :)

There's a possibility that I'll have to return to Rotterdam soon and I'll definitely be coming back to this hotel if I do.

Holiday Inn Express is a good hotel to stay in rotterdam. Reasonably economical and close to Rotterdam Central Station. Close to williamskade 1.9 kms with good eataries around. You wont miss the lack of a restaurant at site. The hotel however has a 24x7 bar at the reception with self vending snack bar. Staff is friendly and courteous. I would definately be staying here during my subsequent visits.

Stayed for 2 nights. 5 minutes walk from Centraal station where the 33 bus terminates, if you are coming from Rotterdam airport. As other reviewers have mentioned you could walk past the entrance, as there is not a big frontage to the hotel, just a set of white revolving doors that lead to a flight of stairs or elevator to the 1st floor reception. There is a tram stop outside the hotel called Weena, so just look for that and you should find it. Staff polite and friendly on reception and as with most people in Holland, spoke very good english. Rooms are quiet small, but they are clean and bed has a choice of firm or soft pillows also tea and coffee ,and most important to myself, the hotel was quiet, heard no noise from other rooms, the corridors or outside, and I had a room on the 3rd floor that overlooked the street, and it was a weekend stay. Good value for money for the 2 nights, and included is a basic breakfast, including coffee, tea, orange juice , cereals, toast and pastries and meats/cheeses.When I was looking for hotels, I found that equivalent hotels were more expensive and did not include the complimentary breakfast. It may not be overwhelming with its choices, but it was of good quality and sets you up for the day. Security is good, with only guests being able to access the elevators, as you need your door key card to operate. Central, and good value, will stay again when visiting Rotterdam.
