I stayed here on the May 20th, 2007 and found the hotel to be located just a 5 minute walk from Central Station. The front desk staff were very very pleasant and helped me with my luggage to my room. Do not let the price put you off, this hotel is a bargain for sure. I would of paid much more for the room as it was a single, new bathroom, and very quiet. The breakfast wasn't the most elaborate, but contained enough cold cuts and good cheeses and fresh fruit. If you stay here, you will be very close to all that Rotterdam has to offer.

CONS:

1) small room facing the hotel's junkyard, (there were tyres, pieces of wood, cardboards strewn about!! and the room got a very dirty balcony as well)

2) no tea making facility, (no kettle, not cups are provided. nothing in the fridge bar either, which makes it very inconvenient, especially if you want a drink at night)

3) no pen not paper provided

4) no elevator!! VERY STEEP stairs (imagine trying to haul your 15 kilo bag up the stairs..NIGHTMARE)

5) was given bed sheets with a hole in it. ( very poor standard for a 3* 'hotel')

6) the toilet refuses to flush properly!! (uurrgghh)

7) Breakfast is served in an area which faces the junkyard, which makes it very unappealing (mind you, the dining area has got big glasses as walls, so u really do get to in the midst of all the junk)

8) very poor, if not rude service. There was a middle age lady who obviously have the shout-at-them-in-dutch-until-they-(--)-and-leave-you-alone mentality.

Booked through expedia, but room looks SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT from the pictures shown.

Good: slightly cheaper than other hotels, but it effectively ruined my holiday.

BAD: no kettle, not so secure doors, sheets with holes, poor service. and the list goes on.

avoid if possible.

We were invited to a medical event in Rotterdam, 4 people stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Because there would be partying all over the time we decided to take a cheap and simple hotel we just could enter for sleeping and breakfast.

The hotel is located at Gravedijkwal, which is a main road that is a little offside of town but heavily frequented by cars also throughout the night. Our colleagues booked a DeLuxe room with bathttub that is a little bigger that the standard room and costs you 10 euro extra. But what is the deal staying in a hotel where you can hardly sleep? If you book, make sure you get a standard room on the garden side, though you look onto trashed wood, rusty car parts and stuff like that. But we did not use our balcony at all because it was too cold and there were some full plastic rubbish bags and building material on it as well.

The heating pipes made a horrible ringing sound that does not stop when you turn the heat knob, so I went for padding the pipes with towels and bed stuff because the ringing made me go nuts in the night.

The hotel itself is not very tidy but the room service does OK although they took away my wife´s pyjama by accident. They later found it in the hotels laundry sacks. Towels and bed sheets are changed every day, the breakfast is good and the rooms are overall clean with little exceptions to the bathroom which had a very ugly ceiling, The shower offers only few drops of water that changes its temperature from very hot to VERY cold every twenty seconds. It was impossible to adjust the temperature for ones need for longer than that period.

Now all this sounds generally bad but I have to admit that one very good thing about the hotel was a) the price and b) the extremely friendly and helpful staff that speaks excellent english and helps you whenever they can.

As a conclusion I can not really recommend this hotel to anyone who is sensitive to loud noises and run down places. If you want to save money, go there but get a standard room and bring your earplugs.

Important notice to those with mobility handicaps: Stay away from this hotel as it has no lift and very very steep stairways.

Hotel room clean/comfortable, room overlooked run down apartments to rear and side, "gardens" full of rubbish, old car wheels/bikes and over grown with weeds, same view from breakfast room which was neat/tidy and clean, breakfast was good, staff friendly, the problems are very run down area, felt very unsafe walking back even from the tram stop 200 yards away, clientele are mainly eastern european men working in area, but saw some students and business people who seemed unimpressed, no parking outside for hotel have to pay (very expensive) in meters or as we did use a bit of waste ground 500 yds away behind riun down property on otherside of road, would not feel safe walking around there at night, price for this was 28 euros for4 nights, probably because it had a padlock on the gate, the wash basin plug was missing, although we asked for one we didnt get one, this hotel is definetly not for tourists or middleaged/elderly/disabled people.

There were 4 people in our party staying late march. I had a broken foot at the time and specifically asked for the hotel to have a lift/ elevator. When we arrived we discovered that it did not and that the stairs leading to the rooms were terrible, many of them and narrow. After climbing to the top we felt like the only thing that was missing was the chalk marks outlining murder victims. There was writting all over the walls and the carpets looked as though they had been there since the building was erected. On entering our room we really got scared, as the only thing you could do in the bathroom was put your shoes in.u could not swing a cat in there. The pipes rattled even when you werent using the bathroom and there was a large circular hole in the wall that seemed to go nowhere. There was also dried blood on the windowledge.
Also all of our party were bitten by something and are still with the scares to prove it.
Its billed as a B & B but save your time and dont bother. The only thing that was on offer was cereal which sounds fine, but there were no spoons to eat it with.
One last thing to note, is, keep your towels locked up as 2 of ours went missing while staying here. I thought most people stole hotel towels and not the other way round.
In short do NOT go there unless you are really desperate.
