“Good location and room - internet and breakfast costs ridiculous”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2010

The guest room is large with a very comfortable bed. Pillows are too soft and pillow menu does not have full range yet. Bathroom has deep separate bath and shower with rainforest and hand held. Shower leaks and floods bathroom, strangely enough less flooding if you shower with the door open. Lighting over mirror (and every mirror in room) is appalling for applying makeup. Makeup/shaving mirror is not adjustable and very high (I'm 5'7" and struggle to use it). Basin height would also be an issue if you were under about 5'5". There is also a night light next to the toilet that does not turn off - if you like sleeping in darkness suggest putting something over it. Wardrobe a bit small and no drawers, only shelving.

Staff are very friendly and helpful - nothing but praise for them.

Cost of internet (at 25 euro for 24 hours) is exorbitant. Why oh why don't large hotels build this into the price of the room? Same with breakfast - 21 euro for a small selection of cereals, breads, fruit and yoghurt, for another 6 euro you can add hot food.

Would stay here again unless I could find a hotel with internet included in the room rate.

Hotel:
Comfortable, pleasant, modern, elegant business and leisure hotel

Staff:
Very friendly and helpful.

Decor:
Light decor in soft tones with white, grey dominating with a splash of dark cherry tones

Rooms:
The rooms differ tremendeously in size within the same room category. The building consists partially of a 1955 former Royal Dutch Telecom building which was completely redone but with the effect that all rooms in this part of the building facing the street are very small. They are also very (very) noisy as we experienced. Request a room facing the courtyard (e.g. 408, 508 etc) as these are not only much bigger than the rooms facing the street on the main entrance side but you avoid the street noise ! Ask for one of the bigger rooms facing the courtyard as these also differ (see the layout/floorplan in your room).

The rooms are in general very comfortable and very nice in decor. Small wardrobe although; basically 50% of the usual HILTON size.

A tip on the side be aware when using the walk in shower (bathtub separate, nice feature) in the bathroom that it may get flooded as the water runs freely under the glass door into the rest of the room (architect ?).

The bathrooms are nicely decorated in pleasant tones with the usage of marble sinks.

Executive Lounge:

Nice Executive Lounge. The X-Factor is the big outdoor terrace with lounge chairs and sofas where you can sip your drink at sunset with a beautiful patial view over some parts of The Hague.

Restaurant:

We were very pleasantly surprised by the excellent day meny which consisted of several fish courses. The equally delightful dessert, a quite good wine selection and the very friendly and professional staff contributed to a memorable evening.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your compliments about the hotel and our team. We duly noticed your comment about the shower. Kindly be informed this is currently being addressed, by sealing the door of the shower. We apologise for any inconvenience you have experienced.
With regards to the size of the wardrobe, kindly be informed we also have Deluxe room types, as well as Executive Studios, which are specifically geared for longer stays. These rooms have more wardrobe space, as well as a kitchenette with microwave, and refrigerator.

We appreciate your detailed feedback about our hotel, and we look forward to welcome you back in the future.

When entering the Hotel, you realise you are arriving somewhere special. Checking in was easy and the rooms are excellent, all at least 31 sq ms. We were told this on numerous occasions by the hotel staff (so it must be correct) who were all very courteous and willing to help. The hotel itself has only been open a few weeks, but is well staffed and organised.

The rooms themselves are large (31 sq ms) and very very comfortable, the shower is like a wet room and is not over the bath like in most hotels. The wardrobe could be larger, being only the size of a single, but if the hotel is targeting for the business traveller who only stays a couple of nights it is sufficient.

The bar is welcoming with the drinks not overpriced whilst the restaurant does has a limited menu, but the food is very good. This limited menu is not a problem as there are lots of restaurants in the vicinity. which serve excellent food at a reasonable price.

I was very impressed with the hotel, it is well worth staying there.
