I have never stayed at this hotel before, but since the other hotels were full, I decided to stay here. I was very happy with my choice. The room was fantastic and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is great and I loved the history of the place. It's also very easy to get to tram stops, attractions and to the city itself.

Room Tip: If possible ask for the corner room since it's larger than the other rooms.

My husband is from Holland so we visit at least 2 times per year. Every visit we stay at this hotel for 1 or 2 nights before we visit and stay with family. This place is to die for! All of the rooms are beautiful, the food is fantastic and the lounge is wonderful. We always are very excited to Tay here and it is a ritual to sit in the lounge after dinner and have a couple of wonderful drinks and relax. The hotel is centrally located and there are a lot of great restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Must stay if you go to den Haag!

Hotel Des Indes is a luxury collection hotel with incredible history. As a celebration of its history and the incredible people who have stayed there, the decoration is quite extravagant. Even so, the staff is as friendly and helpful as can be. Checking in and out was a breeze. The concierge is there to help with making dinner arrangements or just informing guests on how to use the tram system. The Concierge even has the tram tickets for sale at the hotel that can be conveniently charged to your hotel room.

The room (Superior) offered one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel. It was beautifully decorated with luscious fabrics. There was plenty of room to store your clothes and suitcases. The bathroom was spotless and offered luxury bath products.

Breakfast was perfect--fresh and delicious and more than you could every eat, but not so big as to be overwhelming. And the tea was amazing!

The lounge was comfortable and offered some fun drink options along with a standard bar menu.

There is a small but beautiful spa area that offers indoor swimming, sauna, steam room, quiet room, fitness center, and massage and beauty treatments.

The location of the hotel is great...once you get there. The Hague, I don't think, was ever designed for cars. Bicycles and trams rule the roads. So it was a bit difficult for us to navigate and find the hotel. Once we did, however, we wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. The hotel is at the end of a quiet park lined with beautiful houses and several of the international embassies. There is currently a Russian sculpture exhibition along the park which made for an interesting walk each day. In the front of the hotel is an area that is used for antique markets (we were lucky enough to have such a market going on during our stay, and we scored some great finds!). Just around the corner are plenty of restaurants and cafes. Tram stops are about a 3 minute walk.

Night life in The Hague is pretty quiet. So if you are looking for a vibrant feel, head out to the beach which is lined with all types of restaurants ranging from beach clubs to the super fancy restaurants.

Dear Traveler,

Thank you for visiting The Hague and for choosing Hotel Des Indes.

We are very happy to learn that you had a great experience with us and it would be our pleasure to welcome you back as our guest soon.

As you already mention, during the spring, summer and autumn season, the Lange Voorhout, right in front of the hotel offers a great range of activities. The sculpture exhibition return every year with new artists and the antique market is there every Thursday and Sunday.

We hope to see you back soon!

Kind regards,

I've been travelling to The Hague for the last 10 years and I've always wanted to stay at the Des Indes. It's a "company" hotel, but always more expensive than the modern Hilton, so I normally stay at the Hilton. This trip, Hilton was full so I had a perfect excuse to stay at the Des Indes, at least for the first 2 nights of my stay.

The room was classy. It was a bi-level room, with sitting area and bathroom on the bottom floor and the bed on the top floor. There were typical Dutch (interpret this to mean steep) stairs between the levels. The setting was spectacular and the location fantastic; i must say, however, I just prefer the Hilton. 3-am visits to the bathroom are much easier when the bathroom is on the same level as the bed. WiFi seemed to work much better at the Hilton. I also missed the hotel staff greeting me as a guest -- just didn't seem to happen at the Des Indes.

I'm really glad I stayed here, as it's always been a dream. And I don't need to stay here again. It was by no means horrible, and if I were taking visitors into the Hague for a once in a lifetime visit, I may choose to take them to the Grand Hotel Des Indes. I must say I prefer other places.

Dear Traveler,

Thank you very much for your visit to Hotel Des Indes. It is very nice to read that it has always been your visit us, we are however sorry to read that the actual experience was different from what you expected it to be.

Hotel Des Indes always strives to deliver the best service possible and we think personal service is very important. We have therefore passed on your comments to our team to avoid repetition of what you describe in the future.

With regards to the room you describe I would like to inform you that we have 92 different rooms in our hotel of which only two are split-level rooms. The beautiful high ceiling has inspired interior designer Jacques Garcia to use the height for a separate bed room. Should you choose to return to Hotel Des Indes, it would be our pleasure to treat you with a stay in a completely different room.

Kind regards,

Rem Bastiaens

Just returned for a 3 day stay at the Hotel des Indes in The Hague; I am a regular visitor to The Hague and stayed for many years in Hotel des Indes and other 5* and 4* properties in the city, but we definately prefer the des Indes over the other hotels, like the Hilton and partly renovated Promenade;

We were accomodated a nice appointed room on the 4th floor with a small bathroom with walk-in rainshower, no tub, which we requested;

In summary the pro's and con's of this hotel:

Pro's:

- Warm welcome by professional doorman and valet service (expensive but money well spend)
- Quick check-in process at the reception desk
- Nice decoration and furnishing of the hotel and its rooms
- Good atmosphere in the lobby/lounge for drinks and snacks
- Spa and pool, whilst small, it is fit for purpose for a quick visit and some relaxing
- Good location on walking distance of main sights, shops and restaurants in The Hague

Con's

- Expensive internet (€ 19,- for 24 hours)
- Breakfast buffet in the morning (€ 34,50 fot average selection)

We will return soon;

My wife and I stayed in the hotel following our wedding as I was looking for somewhere special and luxurious to stay and was not disappointed.

The concierge prior to arrival was great, helping me plan a few surprises for my other half and informing us in plenty of time about an event going on in the city during the same weekend.

On arrival, the building and decor was as expected but if you have not seen the building before, know that it is excellent - a real gem. A historical building, extremely well maintained and cared for inside. It's like walking into refined mansion or understated palace - definitely worthy of the "luxury" name. Our bedroom was also fantastic, a good size with a bath & shower and a superb canopied bed.

There were a few teething problems at check in but nothing dramatic and frankly the service from then on and through the rest of the stay was brilliant.

The only downside is that you pay for that luxury in some areas like the bar & restaurant but that's the way it is for living so well I suppose.

Dear Traveller,

Thank you very much for your wonderful words about Hotel Des Indes. It was our pleasure to be able to treat you with a great stay on such an important trip!

As you already mention, our building might feel like a real mansion when entering and that is not without reason. Hotel Des Indes was built in 1858 by Baron van Brienen as his city palace where he welcomed many heads of state and famous guests. The hotel now still breaths this atmosphere, something we are proud of!
