“Excellent hotel for every occasion”
Reviewed 9 January 2012

We staid in NH Den Hague only for one night, but we were welcomed very friendly and the lobby looked really nice. Once we were able to check-in and got to our room we were stunned by the luxury that a standard room had to offer. The bathroom had all the necessary utilities and when you are missing something, you just have to call the reception and they will arrange it for you. The location is a bit out of city center but within walking distance (+/- 20min), but the central train station isn't far away and there are stops along the street of the hotel. We really recommend having dinner in the restaurant of the hotel because the service was very good and the menu had something for everyone. Prices are also affordable.

It isn't the cheapest, nor is it in a very inspiring area of the Hague, but you can either catch a tram or walk into the city centre. The hotel also provides a system by which you can take electrically powered taxis into town; it's probably about the same price as taking taxis in general, or at least I didn't detect a cost difference, but as well as being great for the environmentally friendly-minded, it's also more convenient as there is usually one available.

Breakfast was a well-equipped buffet. The restaurant is excellent. It had an unusually Dutch-inspired dinner menu for an international business hotel, which offered some welcome variety compared to the usual cheeseburger-and-caesar-salad standard. They also have a good choice of beers.

The vast majority of the staff encountered were friendly and cheerful. I have good memories of it overall, but if I weren't travelling for business purposes, I'd find it overpriced.

Like other reviewers, you will find that this is largely a business hotel. The area goes very quiet on the weekend and you have to walk or take a tram to get to shopping, attractions and any other restaurants. That being said, a tram that goes straight to Den Haag Central Station is just outside the doors of the hotel and from there you can go anywhere in the city since Central Station is also the central bus terminal.

Room service menu is limited, but breakfast buffet was excellent.

We recently stayed there during a house move with our two small dachshunds. The staff couldn't have been nicer. There are areas around the hotel to walk your dog as well.

Room Tip: Breakfast is served on the first floor, so make your room choice accordingly. Windows do open (we w...

I really like this hotel, the quality is great for the price, great staff, excellent breakfast, nice rooms. However the major problem is that it is using swisscom for its internet services. When I pay 80 Euro for a room, is it really acceptable to charge 18 Euro for a day of internet connection? In the Ibis hotel 3 tram stops away the charge is less than 3 Euro a day...

We have now stayed at the Den Haag twice, when on a long weekend in the Hague. It is clearly a business hotel so doesn't have character but the weekend rates are very reasonable. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are friendly. The rooms are big enough, clean and well furnished. It is also relatively close to the centre, which is easily accessible by the small overground train if you don't want to walk (it is about 15 - 20 mins walk to the centre). Last time we visited the hotel desk sold tickets for the train (you cannot buy them at the stop just outside the hotel). It would be really helpful if they started to do that again. This time the staff told us that we had to buy tickets at the Grand Centraal station (and you have to get there first!). Other than that, it was a good stay.

NH den Haag is a typical business hotel in the business district of the city. This part of the city is nowhere as nice as the area around Binnenhof and the Royal Palace. So you should rather opt for a hotel in that part.

NH den Haag is like most business hotels and quite ok apart from:

- no free Internet in the room (only a slow line in the lobby)
- "wrong" part of the city

On the other hand it is in a walking distance of the central station (15 min.).
