“A lot of artwork in a small space”

Small art gallery with a surprisingly large collection of paintings. The paintings are well documented with information in English as well as Dutch. As the gallery is small, it can get busy so it's worth visiting on a weekday rather than a weekend if possible. The gallery is currently housing a series of masterpieces not usually seen in the Netherlands, and tours are often available.

The museum is quite small yet shows a lot of paintings. Especially in the main show-room the art is hanged St. Petersburg-style right under the ceiling. This room gets crowded fast, is shaped like a hose and therefore it can be really tough to appreciate the individual works. Only plus is that it is fairly cheap.

The ticket is normally an add on to the Prisongate Museum. I wouldn't bother since it really does not contain much worth looking at.

A small space but packed with paintings including some Rembrant. A useful booklet to guide you through some of the art.

Nice to look round and combine with the tour of the prison beneath - good price of Euro 10 for both.

When I opened the door from the walkway to enter the gallery, I did not expect to see the amount of paintings hanging on each wall. There were very few religious works.
