“My favorite place in the Netherlands”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2011

The Hague is past, present and future. With the government located here the city expresses business, the coffee shops and brasseries expresses a relaxing, hospitable and friendly environment whereas the castle, the palaces, the canals and old mansions shows history! A city which never bores you due to the asmospheric city centre and the leisure possibilities at the beach! The big world in small: Madurodam, the old and famous hotel: Des Indes, where princesses wait for their prince: 't Binnenhof, where famous stories are made: Mata Hari, where bakkie pleur and a kano are way of living; the Hague, a city of past, present and future!

“Pretty, quiet City in the Netherlands”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2010

If you are planning a trip to the Netherlands, and if you have time then The Hague is definitely worth a visit. Not quite as glamourous as Amsterdam, but there is still plenty to see and do.

I highly recommend a visit to the Mauritshuis museum, which has many Dutch masters including the famous "Girl with the pearl earring". Also worth a visit is the M C Escher Museum. I've always loved his work and was wonderful to see some of his less well known pieces.

Lots of great restaurants in Den Haag. I highly recommend Phonsawan (Fluwelen Burgwal 11, 070-399-9865) if you like Thai food. The food and service are exceptional. Also some great little Indonesian restaurants. There are also lots of great pubs that serve nice Dutch/Belgian beer.

“The Hague a hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2010

Who knew the Hague (Den Haag) was really a pretty interesting town??
After a volcano enforced 9 days in the Hague I can honestly reccomend it for a weekend away. A chilled out, beautiful town with great galleries, great cafe culture, super shopping, and a beach to boot!
Well worth hoping on the 45min train journey from Amsterdam.

“Very interesting Dutch city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2009

Till my great surprise this city is worthwhile a visit, the government is situated here and the queens residence but the capital is Amsterdam. The old historical centre has lots of nice shops and good restaurants. The area located 'Het Plein' is dotted with nice lounge bars and restaurants after 5 crowded with office people having a drink with their co-workers. The Beach is close to the city

“Most Friendly Place in Europe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2008

I've been to the Hague twice during the last two years. Unfortunately each time for only two days during business trips and with little time to see the city. I still LOVE this place. I presently live in France and the Dutch are SO much more friendly and approachable than the French. They're really interested in talking to you and meeting new people. People passing you on the street smile at you! This place is fun and I can't imagine how much better Amsterdam must be.
