My wife and I stumbled upon this small neighborhood bar one evening in Antwerp. We were looking for something simple; just some good beer on tap and a small snack or meal. In regard to the beer, they had only two: De Koninck and Amstel. Nothing at all amazing but both very fresh and inexpensive. For food we ordered two soups that turned out to be very tasty and just what we wanted on a rather cool night. The atmosphere in the bar was very homey and comfortable. It felt like what the bars must have been like in the past before becoming too touristy and pricey. We both loved De Kat and went back another time before leaving the city on our further travels. I'd really like to keep this bar a secret so it doesn't become too crowded in the future.
