Pretentious setting, pretentious staff, pretentious clientele and pretentious prices.
The quality of the food doesn't match the prices, the staff is inattentive (unless you're loud, have ordered a seafood platter and champagne and are likely to leave a big tip!) and nobody was bothered when we showed them the lump of bone and cartilage we found in the Caesar salad.
There are plenty of far better restaurants in Antwerp, with food deserving of the price charged and staff deserving of a tip.
This restaurant didn't get my tip and doesn't get my vote!

I have dined at Dock's Cafe multiple times in the past and even had my wedding luncheon there. It used to be great food and excellent service.

My last visit however was a disaster. We arrived on time and were given a table downstairs between the front door and the bar. There was a constant flow of cold air coming from the door and noise from the drunk couple sitting at the bar.

Our waiter doubled up as barman, which meant we were ignored most of the time and had to stand up and wave at staff to get service.

After a long wait we were able to order aperitif and took the recommended cava. The cava was poor quality, poor flavour and flat.

The starters we ordered were ok. The "homemade" shrimp croquettes didn't taste as nice as they did in the past but they were ok. The oysters were lovely.

After again a long wait and some waving at the staff, we were able to order a lovely wine with our main course. The wine list is comprehensive.

The main course was good, be it a very small portion at an extortionate price.

Then the real problems started... Our wine was never topped up, the waiter was now full time barman and totally ignored us, arm waving did not help any more. We were left for 45 minutes just sitting there waiting for a dessert menu.

Finally the lady who was front of house brought a dessert menu. After another 30 minutes of waiting we were able to order an espresso, and then more waiting to get the bill... And waiting... And waving... And waiting...

We got up and walked to the counter to get someone to give us our bill. Surprise, the bill was wrong, we didn't order any beer, yet it was on our bill. It took 3 members of staff to fix the bill and finally just before 2300 hours we were able to escape this place.

The bill was €139.05 for dinner for 2, comprising of a starter, main course, bottle of wine and espresso. Brasserie food at Michelin prices!

I usually give a tip, but not this time! You expect at least table service for that price right?

I have been eating here several times with larger groups, 10 - 15 people, at Dock's Café and they always managed to serve the whole table at the same moment, correctly what has been chosen and even still warm! Not many restaurants are as efficient as here.

The atmosphere is very good, sometimes a bit too much noise, perfect location and fine food. Not "haute cuisine", but real value for money. What else does one need?

Dined here on a Friday evening and the place was packed! The tables downstairs are very close together and as a result limited privacy chatting at the table. The wine list is extensive and it's helpful the menu is in English, French, and Dutch. We both opted for a three course meal with baked haddock that was delicious. Portion size was just right. I appreciated not being rushed and being able to enjoy dining- we spent about three hours at the restaurant. Great atmosphere/decore, it still felt intimate even with the close tables.
