“Away, yet at home”

This is the 3rd year that I stayed at one of Karin's apartments, and every year the experience has been better than the previous one. This summer I spent four weeks in the apartment on the 3rd floor. It was very comfortable and taken care of meticulously by the hostess, who truly puts her heart and soul into making her guests feel at home, and tending to their every need. The apartment has been newly remodeled . It has been equipped with all of the modern amenities one can possibly need, including an espresso coffee maker, microwave oven, ceramic stove, fridge, iron, a safe, WiFi, modern and sparkling clean bathrooms. It is located in the middle of the old town of Antwerp, within a few hundred yards from the main squares and historical buildings. It looks out over the old "Friday Market", -a flea market held every Friday for the last 400 or so years-, which attracts true Antwerp characters and antique dealers alike. This small market square breathes a folksy atmosphere; it bustles with activity on Friday mornings, and in true Flemish, burgundy, tradition, it features no less than 5 pubs. Nevertheless, the apartment is sound proof: no noise reaches the bedrooms or living room at all. Not everyone will be thrilled about the 1960's retro interior decoration, or about the price. But what one gets in return is exquisite customer service and unsurpassed hospitality from the owner, Karin, modern comfort, and, last but not least, the convenience of the immediate proximity,- literally within walking distance-, of Antwerp's most iconic cultural , fashion and culinary assets. I can strongly recommend Aplace to anyone who wants to visit Antwerp either for a few days or for a longer stay, and is looking for the experience of being away from home, yet feel totally at home.

Liked best: The modern comfort combined with Karin's personal touch and caring for the guests
Liked least: Some of the 60 ies furniture (chairs, couch) is not as comfortable as it could be; a minor inconvenience in the big picture of the overall experience, however.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the 2 appartments . Karin was very kind and thoughtful. Not only was the appartment beautifully clean it was well thought out and had a highly individual design.
The appartment looks out out onto a very characterful square with little bars and cafes and it is just a short walk to the Cathedral , Old heart of the city and fantastic shops on The Meir.
We had a really enjoyable break !

“Amazing room and location”

This is an amazing property. When I got to Antwerp, I called Karin and she was already in the area ready to pass the keys and show me the room. I had suite 2/1 and it was big! I am glad I didn't book a conventional hotel because this room was spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was no less impressive. There were also DVDs available on the ground floor for the guests. This is especially helpful if you don't understand TV programs in French or Dutch.

Aplace is also located at the heart of Antwerp. It is a short walk to the tram stops and shopping area. If you like antiques, Kloosterstraat is 2 minutes away. Meir is probably a 5 minutes walk.

Check out was no fuss at all. All I had to do was to leave the key in the room. I would definitely come back to Aplace again.

Thank you for your hospitality, Karin!

Travelled to Antwerp on business and Karin's apartment was the perfect place to stay. The apartment is beautifully decorated and everything you could need is provided. Karin is an amazing host and was very helpful in providing suitable recommendations and of assistance with any queries throughout my stay. This is a great place to stay for visiting Antwerp and for those that like to feel at home away from home. Would highly recommend!

Great central location, beautiful stylish apartment, friendly host! There are plenty of great breakfast/lunch places just few minutes walk from the studio! Shared kitchen had all you need - espresso coffee machine, teas and water. Owner Karin gave us plenty tips on great bars and restaurants. Could not wish for more for a weekend in Antwerp!

“Awesome Location, Gorgeous apartment”
Reviewed 28 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Karin's apartments are perfectly furnished, with beautiful detail. They're spotless, in a great location (central and quiet with a few coffee shops in the square) and light and airy!
Karin is a perfect host and very helpful with any queries.
Can definitely recommend anyone to stay here!
There's even great coffee pods provided!
Antwerp has plenty to entertain the visitor for a couple of days, with Ghent and Bruge a train ride away. Train station is a 20min walk.
