Not the best Mercure. I arrived after 8pm on a week day and I felt unsafe the whole walk from Antwerpen Centraal station, as I was constantly bothered by men and had to walk passed 3 strip bars. The hotel needs updating and the rooms need a makeover. Staff was lovely and helpful though.

Standard Mercure in all aspects: decor, room size etc. Close to a public car park which is quite expensive for an overnight stay. The rooms are incredibly poorly insulated though with cheap window fittings so unfortunately you hear every car and tram passing on the nearby streets as well as everyone coming late into the hotel!

The reception staff however the most disorganised and unfriendly I've ever seen in an Accor hotel. They didn't appear able to cope with more than one guest at a time : both attending to the same person and ignoring the second person! Their lack of ability to deal with late check out requests was farcical! They shouted at some people at reception when we were checking in for being late to check out although all had agreed late check out times. We also experienced the same for a 2pm late check out when we were called, rather abruptly, at 1.15 asking why we hadn't checked out!

We won't rush back to this hotel!

Got this through the Ibis Web site. Ibis had no twin rooms so linked us to mercure.
Lucky us. Much bigger room. More comfortable bed. And a large bathroom.
Next to no street noise even though we were on 1st floor. Breakfast was the usual as much as you could eat which was fine. Quick check in and out and friendly staff.
Did not use bar so can not comment. We will return

Stayed three nights at this hotel. Basic but nice single room, no view at all. Nice bathroom. Perfect for use as a base/just sleeping. Didn't try any of the facilities so can't tell. Extremely slow reception - I've been to many hotels around the world, but this is by far the slowest, and they even answered the telephone talking about prices, availability etc. while serving actual customers, letting them wait. This, of course, optimizes profit, as the customers already at the hotel, are not going anywhere - just seems unprofessional, especially considering it was Friday afternoon with many guests checking in.
The location is in short walking distance to everything - train station and city center, bars and restaurants. I would stay here again, and it's good for the price.

I was in Antwerp for a 2 day conference. Found the hotel very convenient. Staff very supportive, quick and easy Wifi. Near to the city center and very near to the trainstation. Breakfast moderate with a very kind service.
