This Hotel was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in! If one were Blind drunk it probably wouldn't of mattered, but it did .There was no hot water in the showers for three out of the four morings we stayed, the room was filthy and the staff were extremely rude and did not care when we complained and on top of all that the bed was missing a leg and was discretely held up by an empty beer crate. I would probably recommend this hotel for those people in you're life that you don't really care about!

This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in for years. The air conditioning only made a horrible rattling noise and produced no cold air. Opening the window on some inner courtyard which was extremely noisy. Seemed to be a problem with the hot water which was extremely erratic to non existent. My room was extremely dated and very worn. Towels were threadbare. Room felt unclean.

Friendliness of staff was mixed. No internet connectivity.

I've stopped in a few Antwerp places around the Centraal station and this is one of the better ones, hence the price.
The room was in good order, comfortable & cleaned daily. The bar was a bit snug, no restaurant for evening meals but plenty of choice on your doorstep. Did not get a chance for breakfast as it did not start until 8.00am and I was out by then. 24hr reception and good security measures, ( need card for lifts as well as doors ).

What was meant to be a short spell of luxury in a 4 star spa hotel, turned out to be more of a disaster. We left early. Look at the pictures!

Here the list of complaints.
- Check in on arrival took 2 hours due to an overflowing bath in one room which cause major flooding in the rooms below
- General state of cleanliness: awful (room: dusty, sheets did not look fresh, rubbish of previous visitors still in room; - state of bathroom unacceptable: shower mouldy, toilet leaking, whirlpool bath broken; hairdryer broken; spa facilities: disgusting)
- no information given at check in that breakfast was only served from 8.00 onwards, no information on that in room either.
- spa facility: dirty (toilet was dirty, did not get cleaned over 2 days, partly unusable; sauna had to be heated up first before it could be used, then was too dirty to use anyway, the gym (consisting of very few machines housed in a tiny room) was dirty and the machines were not well maintained enough to use; place was more used as storage facility
- temperature control in shower did not work, hot water was not always available.
- light switch in room broken, shelves in room broken

Staff did their best to keep it all together, but they can do little to turn a run down hotel in urgent need of renovation into a shiny 4 star accomodation.

My business colleague and I stayed here. Like many European older hotels, the rooms are not consistent. The hotel is very expensive for what we got.

Breakfast was good, but not included in the price. Internet is not included.

I had a suite (room 700, the Baroness suite). Huge room, bathroom updated, clean, and very well appointed.
Living area, however, looked like a college dorm, with mismatched furniture. Very Large area, which could have accomodated another guest.

No a/c, but they did have a fan.

My colleague, however, reserved a non-smoking room, and was stuck with a smoking one. He complained, but they said they were fully booked, and could not accomodate him in another room. They did switch him into another room day two, but no a/c in his room, so he did not sleep well.

This hotel is in serious need of updating.

Having read some terrible reviews on this hotel, we were very worried about staying there. However, it was not as bad as we had expected.

Positives

1. Located centrally near station with loads of restaurants and shops nearby. Within about 20 minutes walk of old town.

2. We found the staff to be very helpful and efficient. 3 requests we made were attended to very quickly.

3. Reception area and Paint Pot bar are very tastefully decorated. (See photos).

4. Security is good with key cards needed to operate lifts.

5. Breakfast was good. (See photos) As well as continental breakfast, they had some cooked food (sausages, bacon and eggs). Service at breakfast was excellent in the Gaar Centrael Restaurant which is attached to the hotel.

6. The towels and linen were spotlessly white and looked new and the beds were clean and comfortable.

7. Our room and bathroom were spacious and the window did open wide.

8. The television was modern and offered plenty of channels.

9. Well-stocked mini bar.

Negatives

1. From reading reviews, it seems that luck plays a big part in how happy you are with your allocated room. Our room had a very strong smell of stale cigarettes. It could have been cleaner, as there was a lot of dust around the walls and a used cotton bud at the end of the bed which was not cleared up while we were there. There were several dirty marks on the walls in the bedroom. There was black mould on the grouting around the bath.

2. The corridors were very smelly with stained carpets (see photo).

3. At first, the air conditioning in the room did not work, but this was attended to. However, to have it on full (which was necessary) meant it was extremely noisy.

4. When you put the bathroom light on, the large towel rail automatically heated up. As the weather was very hot, this was not acceptable, so we tried to manage by leaving the door open and using the room lights only!

5. There should have been more information in the room about how to work the airconditioning and also about the heater and hot water in the bathroom.

6. The safe did not work.

Despite all this, we did enjoy our two nights' stay at this hotel. However, I think that this hotel has seen better days and that it would not take much to bring it back up to standard again.

We booked this hotel with a Eurostar deal, (like stan78). The only good bits were the breakfast, which is included now, air-con which actually worked and convenience for the station etc. The receptionist tried hard to sort out our problems, but didn't manage too!. The first room had no hot water and a toilet that nearly overflowed when flushed, the second room offered had no hot water, curtains off their hooks and a bed supported on beer crates, another room had no hot water and broken taps on the bath, another was ok except it had a water bed. No rooms offerd had HOT water. We eventually were up-graded to a suite on the 5th floor, but still no hot water.
The bed was comfortable, and only had a thin blanket in a duvet cover, which was sufficient for us.
Cleaning was minimal - our floors were not cleaned for the four days we stayed, and had not been cleaned before we got in- there was a nut shell on the floor when we arrived and when we left. The bin in the corridor by the lift was never emptied, despite being full. Bed was not made properly each day, just the bedcover pulled up.

Definitely NOT 4 Star. Am only glad we had not paid the quoted 300 Euros a night for the suite. Would not stay here again.
