“Good base to explore city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

Good value for money. My stay included a breakfast which was very good.Great location, 3 minutes walk from central station, 10minutes walk from shopping streets/squares/Cathedral. Very large rooms, large bathroom. Room was clean..sheets, floor etc but felt it could have done with a dusting! Double room consists of 2single beds pushed together. Staff were mostly pleasant.Overall, a good base to explore the city as you wouldn't be spending most of the day in the hotel!

Nice hotel, room with large relacing beds and a big TV. They recently restyled the hotel and looks modern. Hotel is close to the city center and just 2 streets away from Antwerp Central station. It is not an expensive hotel, you get value for your money.

There really isn’t much fuss about this hotel. There’s a rather small utilitarian lobby, a pretty good breakfast and vey spacious rooms. The Hotel is located at the edge of the Diamond District, 2 blocks away from the Central Train station and 2 blocks away from the main walking street (Meir). I took the train from Brussels Airport and was checked in within 90min. It is very convenient and the prices are usually very reasonable. There is FREE WiFi and I have to stress that the hotel staff was EXTREMELY helpful and rather gracious regarding a late check-out. On the bad side, the main street leading to the train station is being renovated now and there is construction (no noise problem, just an eyesore) but there’s a lot of that currently in Antwerp, and it’s not the Hotel’s issue since it’s not on the main street, but 1 block away. I didn’t give it an "Excellen"t rating because it’s not a “full service” hotel, but I honestly don’t need anything else and can highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Not much of a view unless you're on the 6th floor where you can just barely see over the other b...

Recently renovated hotel, nice and comfortable rooms with huge TV! Very good location (300m. from central station). No restaurant in the hotel but plenty of choice around the hotel. Restaurant Gran Duca was recommended by the receptionist, really lovely kitchen in a good atmosphere!

Room Tip: I had booked the superior room which was very spacious and well equipped, it even had a kitchenette.

We found the rooms were nice and big, and the bathrooms to be above average compared to the other bathrooms where we stayed during our european holiday. The staff originally were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
However, we left the laptop lid open when we left our room to do the "tourist things" for the day, and when we came back to our room to drop off some of our shopping and things, we noticed there was a liquid substance laying on the keyboard of the laptop. when we went to wipe this off, it appeared to be cleaning/shower gel. I fired up the computer, and even though it was still processing, the keyboard was fried. I took it straight down to the desk and involved the manager, and of course, I just got a nice letter saying that since it can't be proofed it was their cleaner, they were taking no responsibility. They also couldn't advise me somewhere to take it for repairs. it took us 5 mins of walking around a city we didn't know, to find a very helpful friendly repair man who looked after us very well.
We were in no way aggressive or unpleasant throughout this procedure, we stayed friendly and tried to find a solution to the problem. However since the incident the staff have been very curt and lost their friendliness.
The only other "problem" with the room we found is it is exceptionally noisy. you can hear everything happening in rooms around and above you, including people talking, not to mention the street noise.
We also asked for twin rooms, as we are two friends travelling, and got a room suitable for a couple. this was rectified easily with the re-arrangement of furniture, and the fact that most european hotels that we've seen have two single beds together as a double. thank goodness the room was big enough to allow this.
