“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights and the staff were very helpful. We were driving and were pleased with the secure underground car park. Breakfasts were delicious with a lot of choice. The room comfortable with English TV. Also free Wi-Fi although a bit intermittent in the room. Would recommend.

I stay there 2 weeks and it was quite comfortable. They have everything what you can expect from a multi-star hotel. Breakfast was with more than enough sorts. If you need a hotel with good price/comfort rate I would recommend Astoria Hotel without any doubt, especially for long stays they have very good rates.

I go to see my aged aunt in Antwerp two or three times a year and have stayed in several hotels across the city. The Astoria is well-run and is in a good location. I was impressed by the genuine helpfulness of the reception staff. They didn't say 'have a nice day', thank goodness, and did ask me if I wanted to leave my bag there, without me having to mention that first. The room was comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. The obligatory piece of art on the wall was not too awful, and the shower did not try to scald me. The breakfast (included in the price) was surprisingly good for Belgium (!). It went well beyond the usual flattened 'cheese' and boring rolls.....there was fruit, cereals, scrambled egg etc....all appealing and no piped music or TV either. I had no sense at all of security issues; in any case, Antwerp must be one of the world's safest cities. I'd certainly stay there again.

We spend a night in Antwerp on 20/05/2013. This hotel is nearby the Antwerp Central, around 15-20 minutes walking. It was also within walking distance to the attractions in Antwerp. Halal food was all around the area, and the food are good as well!

We like everything about the hotel. The receptionist were friendly, she gave us a map to show us the way to the attractions and explained very well how to get to the places. Check in was a breeze, no fuss at all. The bed & pillows were comfortable & the room was clean. We even have a balcony where we can sit & enjoy the cool air & beautiful scenery. There was also a coffee maker & complimentary coffee & tea. We skipped the breakfast coz we were too tired going around the area. For those who wants to buy any basic items, there is a Carrefour Express at the corner before the hotel. i would definitely book again if I have the chance to visit Antwerp again.

This hotel is close to the train station, but is not in a great area. There is a mini-police station at the end of the street.

The security for the lobby was very tight; any time, day or night, you had to unlock the door with your room card in clear sight of the front desk. If they had seen you before that day, they would buzz you in, but the revolving door was locked the whole time we were there.

There were NO safes in the room or in the hotel, NONE. There were not even safes for the front desk to store your laptop or whatever. The front desk folk were very helpful, and they agreed to keep my laptop on their desk in the back where they would watch it. That was the only security option.

The rooms were tired, the walls needed repainted and the beds were OK. The colors were very tired in general and very drab. Rooms are big but largely empty. Breakfast was pretty good.

i don't really understand why this hotel has been rated so highly.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are greatful for each remark we receive. The reason we keep all the doors closed all the time is because of the safety of our clients. Being situated in the middle of diamond area most of our clients are diamond dealers and this requires an extra measure. Safes are available in every room and they are free of charge. I hope to welcome you again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay here for 4 nights on a recent holiday.
The location was great - between the Central Station and the main shopping district, so a short walk took us to whichever we were heading for. It's also in a quiet location so we had peaceful nights sleep (we read that other hotels were in noisy locations and travellers had problems).
Every member of staff we dealt with was extremely helpful and friendly. We were greeted with a smile all the time and nothing was too much.
Our room was fairly basic, but that's what we expected for the price. However, it was spotlessly clean and tidy.
Breakfast was standard 'buffet' style like you'd get in most other hotels which suited us just fine as we could choose whether we had cooked or continental style food. The croissants I had every morning were very fresh which was reassuring!
Would recommend to people who want quiet, but also near enough to all the action with helpful staff.

Room Tip: We were at the very end of the corridor so had no disturbances outside our room.

We arrived in Antwerp by train, and found the Astoria within an easy walk. The street isn't very nice, but the hotel is in a good location. We asked for a quiet room at the back, and we slept very well. The bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, and that alone would be a good reason to book with this hotel. We found the bathroom clean, but had a bit of a problem with leaking from the shower, so from then on, we put a towel on the floor in the corner by the tub. The only little problem we had was that the Internet was quite slow. However, I would not hesitate to use this hotel again. We thought it was good value. The staff was pleasant.

Room Tip: A room at the back gives you a quiet sleep.
