The price for this hotel was almost half of neighboring small hotels, so we chose this one. Our online reservation request was answered within minutes. All staff were warm and friendly and helpful. Absolutely perfect! The location was quite close to the main shopping areas and very good restaurants. The room (suite 201) was next to the laundry - where most hotels put people with children. We had read that the hotel was in a 16th century building, and were looking forward to a charming room. But, alas, we were given a room in a much later (1980's?) addition with absolutely no character. We did see some old beams in another hallway, so the other rooms (not given to people with young children) might well have the character we were looking for. The room was large and basic. There was no in-room coffee/tea service, which one tends to expect with a suite. Room service was very prompt, though, in bringing up a pot of coffee when asked for. The bathroom was clean, but mildew stained and the standard of finish was poor. The bed was comfortable and clean, but with ripped sheets and skimpy pillows. The parking garage was very small for our admittedly large vehicle. Compact cars should have less trouble and more remaining paint after leaving. Breakfast was a quality buffet with crispy croissants, good coffee, and once again impeccably friendly and efficient staff. For those on a budget this hotel couldn't be better.

I spent a week in this hotel. It's quiet and comfortable, conveniently located midway between the central station and the city centre. That said, the claim to four stars is unjustified; there would be fewer complaints on this site if it presented itself more modestly.

The room furnishing is basic. The WiFi service was mostly unusable. There was no iron in the room, and ironing was only available at a charge. There was no shower curtain in the bath. Sound insulation was poor. Mosquitoes were seemed to be a problem, though a plug-in device was effective in keeping them away.

All in all, it's good if you are happy with the price and your expectations aren't excessive, but bad if you expect luxury.

Located next to the University of Antwerp and walking distance to all downtown locations. Rooms are pretty basic, mine had a terrible odor and no temperature control (too hot in winter). Breakfast was good. Lobby was very basic. Internet at additional cost.

The hotel is very nice from the outside, with a nice gate and courtyard. However, the inside is pretty run-down and definitely needs major modernizations.
All over my room, there were yellowed spots - in the bathrooms, above the sockets... Though the rooms were spacious, they were not very comfortable. In the bathroom, there was no shower curtain for the tub, yellowed fittings, no facial tussues...
Also, I wanted to pay my bill the evening before check-out because I had to leave very early - which was not possible (because the system was already shut down).
I am definitely going to look for another hotel the next time I'll be in Antwerp.

On the plus side our room was large, clean, the beds were comfortable and we had a very good bathroom. Booked 3 nights stayed 2. This is really no more than a bed and breakfast place. No room service, no coffee or tea making facilities in the room, no safe, no bar, no mini bar, no restaurant. Do not be fooled by the photos of reception and the garden, they are very nice but really add nothing to your stay especially in December.
Staff pleasant enough. Breakfast indifferent. I fail to see how it achieved its star rating. If you are just looking for a base to sleep OK, but there are no facilities if you wish to return to the hotel and rest etc during the day. Very disappointing.

Never again! Definitely not a 4-star hotel - max. 2 stars!

We (my wife and I) wanted to stay in this hotel, chosen in internet due to what we thought is a good rate and proximity to city center. We have lived in Antwerp for couple of years, so we knew city quite well and this hotel looked so nice from outside - very nice classical belgian yard, but... that was all of it, unfortunately.

When we have arrived we have got room 101, and immediately we had a problem in our bathroom - water was coming out of toilet pot so we had a small flood all over bathroom and corridor area. Hotel have changed the room one floor higher - no flood this time, but overall condition of room is miserable.

First, room needed URGENT refurbishing - everything looked so old and tired - carpet, yellowish walls/ceiling, old-fashioned conditioner, scratches and cracks here and there, no shower curtain in the bathroom, very old towels. Second - on the ceiling you can see spider webs, and finally we've got a small spider right in our bed. Third - beds are a different story - despite it is a double room, it is actually two separate beds put together, but the blankets were another disaster - reminded me back into boyscout camp. It is just a woolen blanket with a simple bed linen under it, matresses are old and soft. Not enough light in the room.

Unfortunately, this was not it. Somehow our credit card given during booking time didn't go through - hotel asked us to PREPAY for the whole stay in advance, even despite the fact that we have given another card number. Moreover, when we started to complain about the room - manager called us and said that "if you are not satisfied, then you'd better look for another hotel!", which was really rude and embarrasing, without even excuse for the quality of stay. Then even better - hotel charged us for breakfast for the first day (we had early arrival) - additional 40 Eur - without any warning by the staff that it will be extra. 40 Eur is ROBBERY!!! This breakfast doesn't worth even half of it! Believe me - go to Horta cafe in the center of Antwerp - for 15 Eur/person you can have a breakfast with glass of champaign, parma ham, eggs, salmon, fresh fruit smoothie etc. - nothing compared to the breakfast served in Prinse. Moreover, our card was charged in our absence without authorization!

We left hotel after 2 nights of stay instead of 5, and moved to another place. When I asked a manager she told me that it's a "crisis time in Antwerp" (what a silly argument!) and that there are lots of hotels available. Luckily, it was of no problem to us as there are many hotels and we knew the city. But if you are unfamiliar with Antwerp - it might be a challenge to look around.

So overall recomendation - for this money (135 Eur/night) or a little extra you can find FAR BETTER hotels with a far better attitude to guests. I highly urge you to NOT to stay at Prinse, choose something else.

P.S. Forgot to mention nasty smell in the room!

We arrived to Hotel Prince from Gent where we stayed in a superb 4-star hotel and I can relly tell you this hotel should have 2 stars, not 4. The room was tiny and the bed filled it almost entirely. Everything was old, dirty and it smelled really bad. There's no minibar in the rooms, the shower didn't work properly and the breakfast is really poor. I definitely would not stay in this hotel again or recommend it to a friend.
