Used Hotel Antigone on many occasions when visiting Antwerp. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and always willing to give that extra touch of hospitality service. The location is suberb, few minutes walk from the city center. The wide variety & delicious breakfast was exactly what we needed for a long day of sight-seeing through Antwerp. Surely will be using Hotel Antigone for my next visit to Antwerp!!!

Stayed in the hotel for three nights, very good location with an easy walk to the Grote Markt & the Grand Place. Check in was a longish process because of the personal service given to each guest, so no complaints. Third floor room over looking the river, clean but a little tired. WiFi was intermittent in the room, Madam is aware of this and said she would look at the problem.
Breakfast was fine and included in the price. Fridge and coffee machine in the room, but only two coat hangers!
All in all a good stay, we would return.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view over the river.

I stayed for only one night, unfortunately, but it was sufficient to remind me just how good a small hotel like this can be. A genuinely warm welcome from the charming receptionist on checking in, giving all the necessary information, and then when I passed the desk again on my way out a little later she called me across to ask if I was happy with my room and was there anything else I required that she could provide me with. That is what I call service. The hotel was clean throughout, with a reassuring notice in the room that the mattress was cleaned daily and regularly given anti-bacterial treatment. Bathroom was especially clean. Breakfast was superb - a huge variety of items to suit all tastes, several different delicious types of bread, and tea and coffee from simple jug dispensers so no waiting in a queue while somebody ahead of you tries to work out how to operate temperamental push-button machines. The Antigone is very conveniently situated on a street overlooking the river Schelde and is a two minute walk from Antwerp's old town. Surprisingly little traffic noise - probably because I was in a third-floor room with efficient double glazing. I shall definitely stay here again. Recommended uniquivocably.

Room Tip: Request a third-floor room at the front of the hotel - for minimal traffic noise and a nice view aro...

This hotel has a wonderful location, right on the River Schelde and only 5 minutes walk from the main part of Antwerp. Breakfast was plentiful, ham, cheese, eggs, fruit, cereals, bread. It was excellent.

the rooms could do with a little updating, they are very plain, but the bed was comfortable and there was a heater, as I was cold the first evening.

Room Tip: You can have a room overlooking the Schelde, but be aware that there are rows of warehouses so you d...

Lovely friendly and quiet hotel on the Kaai, very close to city centre and next door to the famous Docks Cafe fish restaurant which is brilliant. We stayed in a studio which is across the road behind the hotel and was essentially self catering though breakfast was included in the rate and taken in the hotel main building. The studio apartment is reached via a street door and spiral staircase so not too good if you have large suitcases or if you don't like steep stairs. Carparking is also provided (€15/day) and is secure though off road and outdoors. Reception closes at 10pm so don't forget your room key which serves as the night door key. One hiccup was on our last morning as a miscommunication between staff meant the hotel was not open so we didn't get breakfast (Studio keys do not serve as night door keys to the main building). The hotel was apologetic and did offer breakfast by 10.30 when we were ready to leave so we took fresh fruit for our journey home. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a nice quiet stay in the city centre at a rate that is very reasonable and is still in very close proximity to the cetre and all the attractions that Antwerp has to offer.

Room Tip: Studio apartments are well sized and provide full self catering; spiral staircase access though may...

We booked this hotel primarily because of the location and the (relatively) good price, at 95 euros/night for a double including breakfast.

The location was indeed perfect (5 minute walk to Grote Markt), and we were able to park next to the hotel for 15 euros/day. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and spoke several languages (Flemish, Dutch, German, French, Spanish and English). The breakfast was decent and convenient, but nothing to rave about: tea, coffee, orange juice, cereal, soft boiled eggs, rolls, a couple of meats, cheeses and pieces of fruit. There was a large spread, but none of it was more than ok in quality. The room itself was large, as was the bathroom (but there was only a bath, no shower). The free WiFi was a big bonus and worked well.

I had ignored comments about how the hotel room was dirty because we're not incredibly picky, and I figured that those reviewers were. But, the room wasn't as clean or well-cared for as I would have expected for 95 euros a night. There were a couple of hairs in the bed that we brushed to the side, and we tried to ignore the dark stains on the pillows that we noticed when they slipped out of their cases. I never felt disgusted, but I never felt all that comfortable. I think a couple of simple and cheap upgrades are needed to make this place a bit more acceptable.

All in all, because of the location, the WiFI, and the staff, I would probably stay here again-- but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who can't deal with a little grime...

The staff here is friendly and helpful and almost make up for the dreariness of the place. The lobby is done in stunningly bad taste, and the rooms are just sad, plain, cheap. Michelin touts the "river views" but neglect to point out that there is a heavily travelled street and a parking lot between the hotel and the river. In short, it's not dangerous or dirty and within easy walking distance of the sights, but that's it. Oh, and the free wi-fi is really easy to use.
