We enjoyed staying in this hotel, well situated and loved the option of being able to make ourselves a tea or coffee anytime we wished downstairs in the dining area. The hotel is small and stylish and staff friendly. Breakfast was also extremely good.

Room Tip: Check online, all rooms are different.

I stayed for 3 days at the hotel and was in room 302 which is above reception. The size of the room was smaller than expected for a 4* hotel. The bathroom was clean but had a window at height through which people in the opposite building could see through if they were high enough.

Although the hotel is off the main street, traffic and rowdy people are easily head through the windows. Also I could hear church bells ringing every 15 minutes which made sleeping very difficult - reception refused to move me.

The buffet breakfast was very good but I was always the first one down at 7am - I cannot comment on the replenishment rate. There is no room service but food from the restaurant opposite the street (De Klien Zavel) can be sent to your room for a €5 charge. Note no free water is provided so I had to use the minibar and a 250ml bottle of water cost me €2.50.

Location is great through - just 10 minutes from Grote Markt. Area seemed reasonably safe even at night.

Room Tip: Ask to face the courtyard

very friendly staff, ideal parking, good atmosphere, ideal location.
But rooms not as good as they look at first glance and noisy from people in the streets coming back from a late night out. No double windows, no airconditioning.
Recommendable if location is vital: very near Kloosterstraat (antiques) and Groenplaats (downtown)

This is a small hotel conveniently located only a few blocks from the main square. It is on a quiet street with many restaurants within walking distance.

As noted by others, this is a converted building so the rooms are not your standard hotel fair but a bit funky. We stayed in the Waldorf Suite (which as other pointed out is not two rooms but rather one large room divided into sleeping and sitting areas but i think true to the pics on their web site). The ceiling is wood with wood beams which I liked but given that our room faced the building next door, made for a dark room. My husband thought the room was musty -- there we disagree but he's entitled to his opinion too.

There was a TV and DVD player in the room which is good (didn't have a DVD in many higher priced places we stayed on this trip) however the DVD was oddly placed so that you had to stand up to use it.

The breakfast spread was good and included with our room rate ($250) and the staff was very helpful. They gave us two restaurant recommendations -- one across the street (De Klien Havel) which was only okay and Prued-Homme P -- a higher end seafood restaurant which had the freshest mussels I ever had (and I've had a lot of mussels!).

Overall I would recommend but my husband would not (He would prefer something more modern). Your choice :-))

We stayed at Hotel 't Sandt for 4 days. The staff was very knowledgable, helpful and polite. Our spacious room overlooked the garden and was quiet. The hotel has been reconverted from an old factory and still retains some original character but has been totally updated. Each room is tastefully unique and has all the modern amenties. The location was great for sightseeing, close to everything including great restaurants. There are not many options in Antwerp for luxurious hotels, ( most of them are quite small and very tired looking) but the Hotel t'Sandt really stands out above the rest.

We stayed 2 nights in a royal suite & the first thing to say is that it was not a suite at all but a large room with a sofa.

It was clean & comfortable & the bed was huge & very good. The bed linen was nice & cosy.

It was cold in Antwerp & the heating was very efficient & in your control which is a bonus.

We had a partial view of the cathedral & it was charming however with our curtains open the people in the adjoining suite could see into our room clearly & vice a versa.

The decor is a little tired & our bathroom pretty basic for the price & strangely & rather meanly we were allocated 1 small bar of soap per night.

The breakfast was plentiful & included in the price & the breakfast room charming - we had breakfast delivered to our room one morning ( you pay a few euros) & it was a generous selection of things.

The reception staff were pleasant & their 2 suggestions for evening meals were absolutely spot on & actually helped make the trip more special.

The hotel is on a small quiet street & the only noise we heard was from the tipsy giggling couple in the room next door when they got back around 1.30 - nothing the hotel can do about that once they were inside all was quiet again.

In short it was perfectly pleasant hotel & we would go back & we would recommend it but it's not as special as I assumed from the photos on it's website or as it could be.

We had good memory of this hotel some years ago, but it was very disappointing this time around.

We stayed in one of the hotel more expensive suites

General - condition needs update
Room - small & dated
Bathroom tiles need to be cleaned and repaired
Breakfast buffet - expensive and limited choices
Location - good

In short, we would rather stay in a simple bed and breakfast place for the price/quality we're getting.
