Owner description: Leopold II had this unusual rail station built as a neo-Baroque monument to the railway age in 1905.

Impressive station, over four levels, with three of those containing the platforms, and a fourth at street level for shops. Through trains heading north to the Netherlands leave from plats 21-24 on the lowest level.

Plenty to look at here, and not a bad station to get around, signage is pretty good and it's pretty obvious where to go to find your train. Agree with other comments that this has been beautifully restored. Even the functional add ons kind of fit in with the old.

An architectural masterpiece which should not be missed. This is one of the most successful renovations on an old building I have seen, combining in en excellent aesthetic way the old with the new. The contrast of the the modern element with the old ones puts even more in value the old building, of which every piece is a marvel.

Beautiful and easy to navigate. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy for at least 30 minutes. Trains on three levels, I don't think I've seen that before. Well lit and local artists passing by playing music.

Since the renovation this railway cathedral shines again in all its splendour. The old building can compete with the most beautiful train stations in the world. The new part is a worthy replacement of the old tracks and offers now everything a tain traveller can dream about.

Even if you do not arrive by train, it is definitely worth making a detour to see this fabulous building from both inside and out. For train buffs, platforms on 3 levels is also quite fun.
