A wonderful museum with a huge range of works of art all collected by one person, all housed in a fascinating building. The guide book which comes with the entrance ticket gives in depth information on many of the objects.

I've bought a combined ticket for the Rubens house and this museum by chance. Fritz Mayer van den Bergh was passionate about the art. After his death, his mother has the museum built in a Gothic Revival style. The house provides a home for his impressive colection: paintings from the 13th to the 18th century, with works by the Flemish Primitives and including Bruegel's "Mad Meg"; sculptures, woodcarvings, silver- and goldsmithing, tapestries, lace, porcelain, manuscripts...I strongly recommend it!

This museum looked quite ordinary on the outside and then you walk in and the house takes you back to the middle ages, I loved it. The collection is beautiful and I especially enjoyed the paintings. Definitely worth a visit.

The museum was built to house Fritz Mayer van den Bergh's large art collection after his premature death in 1901. The building's interior is beautiful and it contains many paintings including a large selection of Breugel.

Great Breughals. Get a double ticket with Rubens House for only 2 euros extra. Good visit near to centre of town.
