The Groenplaats (Green Square) is a misnomer is I ever saw one. The designers could have done a much better job making it more appealing to the eye. Forgetting about the name, you will enjoy the multiple restaurants and cafés on the square and in the vicinity.

A lot of restaurants and pubs.A good place to have a belgian beer and admire the Cathedral's spire.
Right next to it-Grote Markt.

Nice place to be, especially on a summernight...compared to Amsterdam this is nothing but for Antwerp it's fantastic. Other parts of Antwerp are very depressing and dirty but this is most definitely a very nice though small part of Antwerp! Would like to mention the very good restaurant castellino in front of the Hilton hotel! Try the fish lasagne and the tuna salad..very very recommendable!

Antwerp is the place to be in summer moths, enjoying the terraces with excellent Belgian beer or enjoying a nice wine with good food in one of the may restaurants. Pretty expensive tough.

The Groenplaats, literally "Green Place", is a beautiful historical testament to the culture and lifestyle of Antwerpen then and now. This medieval plaza, formerly the seat of a market (hence "green") is built on an open design, with a statue of Rubens, the city's great Renaissance painter, at its heart. Shops and bars which surround it are unique, quirky, and charming--Sals Cafe has reasonably priced cocktails and the Max Fritkot contains the World's Smallest Frite Museum on its top floor.
