We booked into the Golden Tulip because of great weekend deal and the convenient location. The hotel is quite nicely designed in the typical hotel look. The rooms are spacious and clean. A mini bar and room service would be welcome add-ons. The location is very central and once the renovation of the central station are finished one can actually get from the station to the hotel within minutes instead of taking a long hike around the station (the hotel could advertise that accessibility is a bit of a nuisance). Breakfast is ok. Our only issue relates to the concierge. The one checking-in took far too long processing us, worst was the check-out guy. He didn't look at us. He wasn't able to process a credit card properly and implied that the card wasn't working, which it was and showed way too much attitude. Good hotel that still needs to find the right employees.

Newly built hotel in 2007. Nice spacious roomy rooms. No smoking. Quiet.
No American style AC plug. Bathroom Shaver AC plug will intentionally turn on and off every second if use for laptop or charge cell phones, or camera or MP3 players.
Internet connection requires 5 euro per hour minimum.

Behind Antwerp Central Train Station, currently under construction. Walking distance to Antwerp main shopping Meir areas and diamond museum.
Hotel restaurant is high end in cost, simple menu.

Breakfast 7-10am, 18 euro per person.
No American AC power sockets. Bathroom shaver plug intentionally disable to charge camera, mp3 or laptop.
Internet 5 euro per hour.
TV 18 channels, 3 in English.
Excellent mattress, good support, good firmness.
Air conditioner works well, quiet.
Blanket too thick, too hot.
eTap Hotel, 3 stars, in 30 meters, 55 euro per night.
Large grocery chain store in 100 meters.
No soap dish, messy.
Need better walking map and instructions from train station in hotel web site.

Fire alarm (not in my room but at the central desk) went off twice during my 5 day stay. I suppose I should have been happy that they came to see that everything was okay but getting woken up in the night for no problem got annoying.

Hotel and room seemed clean but they never changed the sheets (usually not a big deal for me) and I ended up getting bites and rashes that went away when I left the hotel.

The area is under construction so it's dusty and noisy during the day. It will be a quick trip to the central train station once it is done.

When we arrived at the hotel at 5pm - there were no rooms available as housekeeping was still in progress. Rooms were supposed to be available from 3. There were lots of other people waiting as well. We were offered a free drink but we had a 40 minute wait for a room. The housekeeping staff were obviously working hard but must have been very understaffed.
Hotel was difficult to find out how to get into as there is a lot of building work nearby.
Location is good just minutes from the diamond district.
I left something in my room and when I phoned to ask about this I was informed I had to send an e-mail. Two days later they have not replied.
Room was well turned out but no minibar and shower door didn't close properly as it looked like it had been fitted the wrong way round!

A very bland hotel with little in the way of services. No room service, no mini bar, no gym, pool. Expensive internet connection. Limited TV service.
The rooms are large and pleasant, but look onto office blocks.
Where the hotel really fails is with the service. The staff in the restaurant seem so unorganized and uninterested.
The hotel is also in a rather inconveinent location, unless you want to be next to the railway station. It is also in the middle of a construction site.
I would not stay there again. Really is only one step up from a motel formulae, Holiday Inn express. Not a "four" star hotel.
