“Nice little gem hidden away”
Reviewed 7 February 2014 via mobile

We stumbled across this place on a Sunday evening searching for a decent place to have mussels. We got a nice table at the great windows but no mussels. The chef explained that they can no longer get deliveries on Sundays and all their stock has already gone. What seemed to be a bit of a disappointment at first, was actually not bad at all, because they three course game menu was really delicious and perfectly prepared. The waitress was very friendly and extremely efficient, especially on the the rather narrow first floor balcony and its staircase. They advised us simply book mussels in advance, because then they have guaranteed enough available. That we did and enjoyed another nice evening at t' Brandijzer.
The mussels were really among the best we had in Antwerp so far. Huge potions, delicious mussels and great sauce. Together with a belgium beer a real treat!

“A consistently good experience”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

This is not an easy restaurant to find - I am always surprised when I manage to find it. It is in what I believe is a 16th Century house on a beautiful little square. The restaurant has a main floor and a lovely mezzanine/balcony. I have eaten both lunch and dinner here on a number of occasions, the last two with my wife. The place is very comfortable with a great atmosphere and a good selection of traditional Belgian fare. I have tried many of the dishes, and have never been disappointed. My wife was equally impressed on my last trip, which explains why we went back a second time. T Brantyser always provides a great experience at a reasonable price.

“Big portions and good value”
Reviewed 3 September 2013 via mobile

Good but not outstanding. For example a generous portion of mussels and good quality ingredients but the sauce lacked the moreishness that has you scooping the last drop from the bowl. The Visshotel was better, similarly large portion, mixed fish and shellfish and a tasty sauce. Loads of chips. Mains around 20 euro..

“Not like so many of the reviews claimed....”
Reviewed 20 December 2012

We went to Antwerp for a getaway weekend to celebrate the Christmas holidays. We were totally underwhelmed with the Christmas markets (we are, after all, from Prague!), but this restaurant made the trip worthwhile. Great food, great service and lovely atmosphere. We had no problems finding it - it is on a road just off the main market square. We were also impressed with the waitstaff who were going up and down this narrow flight of stairs with full trays of food and not even breaking a sweat. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Would recommend this to all our friends.

“Very nice terrace”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

Very nice terrace with views of the Carolus Borromeus church and the library ... very well positioned towards the sun. You are not allowed to have only drinks here but requested to eat. We wanted lunch and the Uitsmijter and the garnalankroketten (shrimp croquettes) were very good. With a draft Belgian beer and a coffee a wonderful way to have an easy going lunch. Inside quite a few tables on three floors, but not used for lunch with nice weather.
