My Wife and I had a wonderful lunch here in the garden behind the restaurant, where you are also afforded a view of the kitchen. The lunch menu is about 42 euro and well worth it. Each course was expertly prepared and interesting with varying textures and flavors. Several amuse bouche where served and the starter was a made of all kinds of tomatoes. The main was guinea fowl which was expertly prepared. Finally a delightfully refreshing desert of strawberry rhubarb, almond mousse, and tarragon ice. To top off the meal some amazingly good madeleine where offered. A few wines were available by the glass. Note The restaurant looked close when we arrived, you have to ring the bell to get in then you will be taken back to the garden.

At the end of a long long working day entering in the restaurant has been like entering in a magic world.
Each dish has been a mix of tastes that resulted in a pure plaesure, excellent wine and superb service. The place is nice and elegant but music was not in line with the atmosphere. It is quite expensive but still worth a visit.

Looks can be deceiving. From the outside it looks like a normal shop (not even a restaurant), but once you ring the bell you enter a world of wonder.
Strating with the apperitif in the small back courtyard until your choices are ready and you can then go to your table.
I didn't like the decor that much, a bit of a classical approach (nice), but with jazz-related drawings that had nothing to do with the rest, and not even to the (loud) music played.
But forget all of that, because all of your senses will be stunned with the wonderful things that will come your way, starting with the presentation, the colours, the design, and then the smell and finally the amazing experiences at your first bite...it's just out of this world.
You can have a degustation menu (from 4 to 7 plates) or choose à la carte. But if one person at the table goes for à la carte, then it is not possible to have the menus.
The staff is friendly and VERY professional, knowing their dishes and wines extremelly well and sharing that knowledge in a friendly way.
This is not a cheap meal (...and that is an understatement), but going to De Godevaart is definitely one experience that you MUST have in Antwerp.

we arrived saturday at 7 pm not yet open
Ok bolloks we go somewhere else in the beautiful old town
Sunday, we tray telephoning but an answering machine refers to a website
Go to the website, nice picture but nothing more than a picture
The door of the resteraunt has no opening times
We try and go on Sunday desperate to try the only popular tripadvisor resteraunts in the old town but nothing
Says ring bell, but nothing.

Either their heads are so full of creative cooking they have their loyal followers or they have no basic basic business knowledge.

My tip

The old town has a different resteraunt every 5 metres just go and look

Excellent pairings, taste and texture contrasts. Agree with previous comments with the local neighborhood being less desirable and in need of paint job inside, but food was excellent.
