“Bad food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013

Don't go to this place. It is in an attractive square in central Brussels, but it has an awful attitude to food. The prices are relatively high, but the menu is just a list of usual meals you get in all places of this type. I ordered "blanquette de veau", which can be cooked very nicely. I got a grey substance in a bowl, obviously warmed up in a microwave. Its appearance was totally unapettising, a film-like layer had almost formed on top. It was too hot, but the temperature was uneven. There were nice chunks of meat in it, but this cooking is a total waste of good meat. Everything else was just a viscose grey substance which betrayed the past existence of some vegetables. Definitely not worth the 14 Euros paid. One of the worst meals I have had for a long time. It was so bad that it makes me ask what else in this kitchen is not right. Some other things, like menus and the outside signboard also indicated a cheap attitude. For fairness sake my companions said their goat cheese salad was OK.
You may wish to sit outside and have a drink, but don't go there for a lunch or dinner.

“Not Epic”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

This is a cosy, clean, large restaurant on Place Jourdan. A good atmosphere here and very busy with locals. The waiters were friendly and helpful. We had soup, chicken for the main course and apple tart for dessert. Overall a satisfying meal but not "STAR" quality. The delay between each course was excessive. Would probably try another restaurant next time.

“Pleasant atmosphere, reasonable food and prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2013

We like to go here once in a while at the "Place Jourdan", when we do not go for the famous chips, that you eat at one of the numerous cafés with a beer. Here instead, you can sit down with friends, in a modernised place with vestiges of old brick walls, a good mix of modern and old. The pillars and different levels create an impression of space that remains cosy.

The menu is reasonably priced, with Belgian classics, salads, european dishes and a few Asian woks. I have chosen a wok and was a little deceived. There were very little vegetables, and I suspected there were not freshly cut but from the deep freezer. The taste was good though. My friend like her "vol au vent".

Service was efficient and friendly.

Possibly this place is better for Belgian classics, and fits into the general very typical Brussels atmosphere of the Place Jourdan.

“Modern restaurant on Place Jourdain”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2013

A large, clean and modern restaurant located on Place Jourdan. We had Sunday lunch here after visiting the market on Place Jourdan. There is an extensive menu that includes some Belgian classics, plus plenty of other options with mains ranging from €10 to €30+. Not sure if there are English menus available, as the menu we were given was in French. Not a problem for us as we quickly saw what we wanted and dived in…..The waiters were all well-presented, efficient, and the service very quick. The restaurant seemed to cater mainly to locals, who like us had come from the market, and the restaurant was busy, without it feeling over stretched. We ordered 2 mains; the cassoulet, which was nice and substantial, and the roast chicken, which was very good. A good selection of wines and beers.

“Reasonable prices and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2013

We lunched here with a friend recently. It was a Saturday lunchtime and quite busy. I was delighted with the prices - which are much more reasonable than many Brussels eateries - and the food wasn't bad either. We had traditional Brussels fare of cheese croquettes, then vol au vents, roast chicken and an impressive choucroute followed by puddings. With water and coffee it was about 33 euros a head, which really isn't bad for Brussels. The staff were charming. We'd go back again.
