Description: LArriere Pays restaurant in Brussels near the huge museum and the Palais Royal is a rustic, casual restaurant-cum-epicerie that also is a charming spot for tea or an early-evening drink. The front room is a shop for reagional, artisanal products are sold. The dining rooms are kitted out with solid wood floors and furniture and walls the colour of sun-ripened tomatoes, a cosy ambience for light lunches and suppers. Choices include salads, cold or warm tartines, pastas, tartiflette, steaks and vegetarian dishes. The tiramisu with speculoos and genievre (Dutch gin) is an inspired combination, and artisan ice creams keep the inner child quiet for quite a while. The terrace seats up to 60 a terrific choice for a group or private meal, and the whole restaurant can be booked for events.

we found this beautiful restaurant while walking through the antique side of brussels, the food was to a very very good standard, the staff were very helpful as the menu was is french and we could only understand some of it, which to be honest i liked, it made me remember some of the french that i had forgot.. very reasonably priced..

The terrace was full, we booked a table but we had to find it ourselves, the waiters were busy and they couldn't handle all the tables. Tired of waiting we decided to look for the menus ourselves and ordered to someone inside the restaurant, and then we kept waiting and waiting. Hungry, we decided to find some bread, yes, we stood up and went to ask for bread. And we kept waiting... we were this close to leave when suddenly our food arrived, and to be honest, despite the delay, the food was good. The waiters were attentive and friendly but they were not able to cope with all the tables.

A welcoming, cosy and charming restaurant away from the tourist runs but accessible. A well-balanced menu, good house wine and generous portions of freshly cooked food. The service was charming. Recommend the beef flamande and the noisettes of lamb. Speculoos-flavoured ice cream a must.
