Our room was recently renovated and comfortable. The location is quiet however don't leave your window open or the Mosquitos will get in.

The front desk staff when we arrived were excellent however the breakfast guy lacked charm. He reluctantly gave us a 2nd cup of coffee but only when we asked.

Which brings us to the Achilles heel, the breakfast. Meagre and plain is the best description for a bread roll, croissant, and various spreads. No cereal, yoghurt, fruit, eggs, or meats. I don't think that additions of these items would break their bank or make a large price increase but it would certainly raise my rating up to a 4.

We went to The Residence Les Ecrins for a long weekend, and it turned out to be a great choice. Staff was very helpful with everything (check-in, city recommendations etc.) and the room was more than decent (it could have had more style but that's all). This place has the perfect location: It's in a nice neighbourhood, very close to the city center yet far enough to have a bit of serenity. One of its strengths is definitely the breakfast, it was not much in quantity but was very delicious (fresh croissants etc.). Would recommend!

Very quiet. Cathedral and nice eatery nearby. "Edward" is a gem of a host and speaks fine English. My room was not posh but certainly livable and you can't beat their prices. Yes, it is a bit out-of-the-way but Brussels is highly navigable by various means. Two+ blocks brings you to a shopping street, ATMs, and a main subway stop. Remember to enjoy Belgian beer!

We had a really nice stay at this hotel. The owner was very friendly, helpful and the breakfast that they deliver to your room everyday was very good. A lot of fresh pastries and coffee; the pastries were still warm when we got it. It is located close to the St. Catherine subway stop and is only about a 10-15 walk to the Grand Place. I would stay again if I was back in Brussels.

Check-in time is flexible as long as you email the owner. We checked in later than the usual check-in time (12.30am instead of 11pm). The owner, Andrew waited for us and greeted us with a big smile. The next morning after breakfast the owner gave us a brief explanation of the city of Brussels and a map with route suggestions. The room itself was spacious for three persons with a large bathroom. Breakfast was modest but good. The hotel is located near to St Catherine metro station and also within walking distance to the city centre.

Checked in for one night and was shown to the next door property. A three room apartment for €120 cant be beaten. Two bedrooms, large bathroom and sitting room, all complemented by a spacious full kitchen. Ideal for a long-term stay in the heart of the EU. Hotel location excellent, 20m from St Catherine metro station and in a very up and coming neighbourhood that has not been over-gentrified. In winter the square at the end of the street becomes the christmas market.

Breakfast very simple but filling, rolls, pastries and jam. Fresh fruit available. The reception person was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were spotless and furnished in a modern minimalist style. Some furniture had seen better days.

Only slight concerns are the lack of rails in the Bath/Shower, no evident smoke detectors and lack of an evacuation plan. Maybe I missed them.

This is to be recommended if you are travelling with a small group, if you want to live for a few days like a citizen of the city. The absolute coolest part is having a door key to a front door just like the locals !!!!

Room Tip: No lifts so be careful if you have limited mobility. Steps into the building make disabled access ne...

Our family of three (2 adults and 1 child) stayed in an apartment for 2 nights last month. Check-in was easy, and the apartment was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. Large, well-lighted sitting room with sofa, TV, and tall windows looking out onto the street below. Functional kitchen with a fridge for our wine and chocolates. Large bedroom with comfortable bed. We had no complaints at all about our experience in this apartment. The St. Catherine neighborhood is very charming, as well -- many lively restaurants as well as two beautiful churches within a couple of blocks.
