“Wonderful Two-Night Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2014

I stayed here for two nights in March. The bed was very comfortable, and it was amazingly quiet. The location is marvelous - out of the tourists but just a 5-10 minute walk away from the Grand Place. It is incredibly easy to get to from the St. Catherine Metro; if you are bringing the train in to Brussels, it's the perfect location. Breakfast was fresh bread, fruits, juice, coffee - nothing fancy, but I don't eat much in the morning. The bathroom area is pretty much a part of the bedroom, but if you're traveling on your own (or with someone you are very comfortable with), it's just fine. The owners are very nice and friendly - he mapped out where to go and what to do for me. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay while in Brussels! Close to the Grand Place as well as many wonderful restaurants and a metro stop. The rooms are simple, but spacious. Guy was incredibly helpful, friendly and gave great recommendations and tips. Would definitely stay here again when In Brussels.

It's a simple place, no luxury. But Mr. Guy and Mr. Edward are extremely polite, the location is great (it's close to downtown, but the street is really quiet!), room is very clean, breakfast is good and price is fair!! Perfect place!!

Very good place if you are looking for a budget stay. Rooms are small but clean. Very close to the city centre. Breakfast is included and awesome! Lots of fresh croissant, fruits, marmelade and staff is very funny and polite!

I felt very comfortable in Residence les Ecrins during my stay. Some single rooms have own bathroom others have shared bathroom. Rooms are clean. They offer free breakfast in mornings. For me most important thing is it's location. You can reach main attractions by on foot. It's also very close to (just few steps) St Catherine subway station. Staff is very helpful. Great option for this price.

The Residence Les Ecrins is located in the city center, if you stay here you don't even need public transportation tickets as almost all the sights are within walking distance. My single bed private room was basic, fits for purpose, great addition was the washbasin in the room. The shared bathroom and toilet was 5 meters away. The place is clean, the owners are very kind, the breakfast had a great value.

Room Tip: My single room had a lot of light, all the downside was that cars were pretty noisy during the night...

I booked a single standard for three nights and was pleasantly surprised to see that I was upgraded to a spacious triple with one double bed and a single bed. The room was on the second floor facing the street. The hotel is on a small residential street about half a block from the St. Catherine metro stop. Although the windows are new and have double paned glass, some noise from cars passing over the cobblestone street can be heard. However, because it is a quiet residential street, there is no noise to be heard after 9 or 10 at night, so light sleepers should have no problem.
The bathroom is spacious and well appointed. The cabinet is a cute shabby chic and the bathroom has a full shower and bathtub (uncommon in European hotels) with a towel warmer that came in handy on the cold November nights of my stay.
The breakfast includes several different types of bread (all fresh and delicious) and spreads with fruit, coffee and orange juice. It's served by the host, who is gracious and friendly and provides a warm welcome to all his guests. I arrived in the morning and was allowed to check in. Edward gave me a map with great instructions on how to get to the places I was going.
The neighborhood is where an old fish market used to be and now has a lot of really good seafood restaurants. If you need anything, there is a Carrefour's grocery store on the square about a block in the opposite direction from the metro entrance. St. Catherine's metro is on the 1 and 5 lines that are just 2 stops from the Gare Central, the train station that will take you to the airport and anywhere in Europe that the trains run. For these reasons, you can't beat the location of this hotel.
