We had come to Brussels for a quiet weekend with just the two of us and only had one night in the city. We wanted to find a nice place to have a meal and unfortunately came to this place. In the same street as this place is located is a large number of establishments who have staff cajoling passers by to come in and eat. We got a cheap glass of what was termed champagne as an incentive. We just ordered a main course. I had the waterzooi and my wife the mussels. While her food was OK, mine just seemed bland, tasteless and watery with badly cut chicken pieces, with bits of bone still in them. The real problem started when we came to try to pay. The total bill came to €48 as we'd decided not to bother with any second course as the first course wasn't at all that brilliant. They brought the card machine over and tried my card. They said that there was a problem with their connection and couldn't process it and that other places had been affected. So they insisted on cash, which we didn't have enough of. He tried to direct me to a cash dispenser allegedly about 100m away which didn't exist. I eventually found one and got some euros out at my expense of course as I will have had to pay a cash withdrawal fee. We handed over the €48 and left. We will not be coming back. Oddly enough just after we left we noticed other establishments processing card payments leaving us bemused as to exactly what problem was afflicting this place that evening.
