Just back from Europe.

Being a very experienced traveler, I have found most hotels in Europe that to claim to be 5 stars are usually 3 or 4 stars by US standards.

I would give the Rocco Forte Amigo in Brussels a 6 star rating if that existed.

Pros:
Great Location, right in the heart of where you would want to be in Brussels.
Hotel is maintained to perfection
Staff could not be more attentive.
Room amenities featured fantastic shower/tub fixtures, heated towel bars, beautiful furnishings, bath robes, high quality blow dryers, illuminated close up mirror and Very comfortable beds.
In room large safe that featured an electrical plug inside for charging items while being secured
Spacious closets that light when the doors are opened.

The staff are super attentive to all your needs.

It rained for part of our visit, the bell men at the front doors made certain that all guests were provided a high quality umbrella before leaving the building.

CONS: None!

A nice hotel, well presented, nice rooms, good staff. However I have to give a bad review, because the level of noise was ridiculous. The room was on the street and every drunkard in Brussels passed by...horrendous nights sleep. Get some ear plugs if you stay...

Dear Kung Fu P,

Thank you for taking some of your valuable time in putting your comments on TripAdvisor.

We sincerely regret that you experienced a uncomfort due to the noise outside the Hotel. The hotel is situated in the center of Brussels next to the main square. Therefore, it is a busy area. However, the hotel room are double shield. We are looking at why this was an issue in your room with the Chief Engineer. For the future, we do have room that over look the court yard which are very quiet rooms as well.

We do hope to welcome you in the not too distant future to show a more accurate image of our rooms and comfort. In the mean time, if there is anything else I can do, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely Yours,

Priyanka Bardoloi

We just stayed at the Rocco Forte, Hotel Amigo in Belgium. The preparation and staff service was better than anywhere. As a family we needed adjacent rooms. They were prepared and connected upon our arrival, a detail often overlooked. The location is perfect for viewing the old part of the City, one block from the main square. Everything was in 100% working order. I cannot compliment the staff enough from, greeting, desk staff and concierge.
Breakfast was included as was internet, a rare inclusion. We travelled as a family and the hotel offered a discount on the second room.
The staff in the restaurant, Boffoni were exceptionally friendly, recalling everyone's name and room. The room included bottled water everyday, turn down service and exceptional room service. We lacked for nothing. Rooms are large by European standards.
A guaranteed good choice when traveling to Brussels.

Room Tip: All were good in my opinion as I heard no noise at night either from the street or within even thoug...

The hotel is simply in the best location possible, if you want to be close to the Grand Place...it is literally right behind the Hotel De Ville (Town Hall), and a 2 minute walk from the square. There are also numerous restaurants on the surrounding streets, and it's about a 10 minute walk from the Central Station, which we walked a couple of times when visiting Antwerp and Bruges.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the Doorman/Bell Man, and he welcomed us, took our bags to our room, and showed us how everything worked (TV, lights etc.). Check-in was efficient and all staff were very friendly. Our room was very quiet, unlike another review, and we could not hear any late night noise. The room itself was large for a European hotel, with a King bed, and nice bathroom - also some interesting art and some Tin Tin characters on the wall. Nice bar, albeit fairly expensive. Housekeeping kept the room very clean. Restaurant looked nice but we did not eat there, although heard good reviews. Had free WiFi in room also.
Overall an excellent hotel, nice staff, perfect location, and good value for money. Would definitely recommend and return if we came back to Brussels.

Hotel Amigo is THE place to stay in central Brussels. The location is ideal and the service is first class on every level. Rooms are quite and comfortable. The food is exceptional. Grande Place is just steps from the front door. This is our GO-TO hotel in Brussels. One of the best stays anywhere in the world!

Whilst it is not the Ritz, it is in the centre of the old colourful centre of brussels, less than 100 metres from Grand square, and everything works well. The room was very large with a huge bathroom, desk. power points nearby, air conditioning and an excellent steaming shower. Having arrived by taxi from the Eurostar, access was easy, until we had to pick up our buy back car at the airport and find it again in the maze which is central old Brussels. The staff could not have been more helpful, especially Dave the barman who went out of his way to recommend, find and book a fine dining restaurant, La Truffe Noire, but that's another story.
The concierge service was able to arrange a private limousine tour of Brussels on short notice for the following day, which was excellent. Breakfast produced my wife's favourite ever smoked salmon which is saying something. Check out was streamlined and porterage prompt and efficient

What can I say? The noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Despite being told we wanted a quiet room, we were placed on the street side. We were kept up until 5am by which time the rubbish trucks started their rounds. Drunks cheering, live street music, cars zooming up and down - like stag party hell. When asked if we could move AT 8PM before we even went to bed (it was so bad then so we knew what we were in for), we were told that they'd look into moving us in the morning. There were four people at breakfast the next morning so why they couldn't sort us out the evening before I don't know. It's a shame because the location is great, hotel is beautifully clean and staff pleasant but if you stay here DO NOT let the beautiful view do the building opposite charm you and make sure you do not get a room on the street side. We cancelled our whole trip and came home simply because we couldn't function the next day on no sleep and couldn't reply on finding somewhere else as we chose this hotel based on the fantastic reviews. The staff merely muttered sorry when we were checking out once they made sure no one was in earshot. Will never ever stay here again unless we wanted somewhere to crash when so drunk we didn't care.

Room Tip: Don't get a room street side. We asked for a quiet room and were told that all the rooms had dou...

Dear Busybadger,

Thank you for taking some of your valuable time in putting your comments on TripAdvisor.

We have been in contact with your agency regarding this issue and have looked into this incident in details.

The hotel is in the city center and there is a lot of movements around in the area. However, the hotel rooms are equiped with double shielded windows. I do apologise for the misunderstanding when the call was made. Our intentions are to make sure our guest are comfortable and we would do our maximum to find a solution.

A room change was proposed the next day but you decieded to leave unfortunately. A compensation was given to you as a apology.

I do sincerely hope to welcome you back at the Hotel Amigo to show a more accurate image of our hotel and in the mean time, if there is anything else I can do please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely Yours,

Priyanka
