Owner description: Unavoidable icon of Brussels and Belgium, unique creation in the history of architecture and emblematic vestige of the World Fair in Brussels (Expo 58); the Atomium is the most popular tourist attraction of the Europe’s Capital.

Atomium is a 102-metre high structure composed of eight 30-metre diameter stainless steel (previously aluminium) spheres, representing eight iron atoms forming a crystal. Entry is 11 euro and well worth it!

The top sphere gives a magnificent panoramic view of Brussels, albeit from its outskirts. This sphere consists of a tourist floor and a restaurant/bar.
Two more spheres contain an exhibition over the World Expo of 1958 and the construction of the atomium. Lots and lots of memorabilia are displayed. Another sphere contains a temporary exhibition, which is currently the staggering, beautiful light show Out of Control: http://atomium.be/id2014.aspx
Queues can be very long, so get there early!

This belgian landmark is a visit worth, it is renovated since 2006.
Entrance cost only 11 euro.
From the top you have a nice wide view of Brussels and surroundings.

Fun place, very different from other sights. A lot of history inside the exhibit. Down side was the very long lines for tickets and another long line for the elevator to the top. Also, we thought it was a bit overpriced.

This is one of the coolest places I have ever visited. Spent a good hour and and half to two hours visiting. Arrived there via the hop on hop off tour. Beware if that is your plan as well, be careful because it is a very busy stop and it gets crowded trying to re board.

If you're going to Brussels, the Atomium is a must. Built for the 1958 World's Fair it remains THE major attraction on the outskirts of the city (take the train). You can go in and spend as much time as you want. There is some modest stair climbing to consider. Views are spectacular. Cost is modest. Restaurant at the base. Nothing special but you can get a salad/sandwich & beer/soda/water/wine.
