I've seen this thing from a distance a few times and had always fancied going to the top! We arrived by metro, which is a short journey from the city centre. It was very busy, and we queued for about an hour for the lift that goes to the top. The views are excellent, even though there was a thunder storm towards the end of our visit! Food was expensive as it always is at attractions like this. Well worth a visit if you're in Brussels.

Take tram number 7 direction Hayzel to the very end of that line, and from that the Atomium should very easy to see and get to. It's a marvel of engineering to my feeling. Try capturing photo from both the distance and from close up to see its scale (when I was there, there were a group of men cleaning the outside of each sphere. Looks pretty cool! Anyway the entrance fee of 11 EUR to get inside is rather pricey and I didn't bother.

Amazing attraction. Visited via the Hop-on Hop-off bus, so easy to get to and no bother parking, not that there seemed to be a problem for that. Not too expensive with superb potential. Unfortunately there was a very long queue for the lift to the top viewing platform (the bit that you are really paying for). The only way to the top is via a lift which only takes about 8 people at a time, so when you are on a tight time restriction you have to miss this section of the attraction. The exhibition section of the tour however was very interesting with nice light displays (attention for those with epilepsy). Some indication of the time you may have to wait in the queue may have been useful before buying a ticket. Or some idea of a time to visit when its quieter so you can plan your day.
I will go back during school term time and try again.

The structure itself is amazing to look at but inside the exhibits are dull and tired. We were sent up various escalators and steps and then back down again to join a huge queue for the lift to the top for the view. My advice is not to bother altogether.

We arrived about 11am, so it wasn't that busy and we didn't have to queue for very long which was good.

The views from the top are amazing and we were lucky enough to be there on a sunny day, so we could see for miles.

We must have spent about 45 minutes up the top and on our way down the queue was huge - at least double the size! Definitely worth getting there early.

We decided to go into the other spheres, where there are exhibitions, which I was a bit sceptical about, but I actually enjoyed it. They're mostly about the history of Atomium which is interesting and then there are a couple more spheres which are a bit space-agey and tell a story of artificial intelligence via sounds and lights etc... Definitely worth a visit, good value too!
