“Inoffensive business hotel”

The Berlaymont is an EU delgates dream, I'd imagine. Easy to find in the European quarter, not far from the Metro station, with a class of room you'd expect for £100-200 a night. The Wi-Fi was expensive at 20 euros for 24 hours, this should really be complimentary.

Went for a wander around the local area for dinner, there is nothing Belgian in the vicinity. The European quarter is aimed at delgates to make them feel more at home. This means you can find Italian, Indian, French, Spanish food with ease, but a waffle or some belgian fries - impossible!!

Breakfast at the hotel was what you would expect, a Hilton style buffet that catered for every taste.

Best hotel I have ever stayed at. Just can't think of anything that wasn't right in this place. Staff was very frendly, competent and spoke english.

Room was big, clean and had a great bed. Ok, one disadvantage: the bed was so good, we spent too much time in it. Very quiet at night.

Breakfast also very good. Lots to choose from and plenty of it there.

We had a great weekend there and have already decided we will stay at the Berlaymont again

Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend in August 2008. Booked through eurostar website & get 2 nights & travel for under which £100 which I thought was very . Location is good, very close to metro, but not too close to main attractions of Brussesls which was good.
Hotel clean & modern, however, when we got there at 9.30 am were told our room would not be ready until 2pm-fair enough. Were asked if we wanted twin or queen, smoking/non etc. Told them & off we went.
Came back at 2pm to be told our room was still not ready! Bit annoyed, but didn't have much choice. Waited til 2.30pm, room still not ready, apparently it was going to take another 30 mins to move our beds apart?
This was extremely annoying, especially as we had specifically said earlier in the day, & we had to wait in the lobby for an hour to have our beds moved????
Room was ok, eventually, although mini fridge did not work at all.
Room had a safe free of charge & played the sound from the TV into the bathroom which we thought was cool!
overall pleasant stay in this hotel just annoyed about the room situation.
Also have to pay for spa-which we didn't use as we were told most of it was not working!
very close to nice park & restaurants, would stay here again if I had to, although like to try different places

Location is excellent, around the corner of metro Schumann (only 15 minutes away from trainstation Midi, and only 5 minutes away from the city centre). Lobby and public places look good, interesting architecture and arts. Breakfast superb, spacious breakfast room, well filled buffet, courteous and quick service. Big room, well equipped bath room. Internet wireless and with cable (pricy: 19E95 for one day, and no service in case it breaks down, since operated by an external provider). Good choice of TV channels. Overall looks of room and bathroom: clean, well renovated, however one has to like the dark colours. All in all, pleasant stay and I would certainly return.

My partner and I stayed here last month for a midweek relaxing break. We booked through Lastminute and decided to pay a little bit more to get a better hotel.
The best thing about this hotel is that even though it isn't central, it's literally right next to the Metro (outside, turn right and 300 yards). Getting round Brussels is SO easy using the Metro. It's cheap, quite clean but also feels very safe which I think is important.
This is a typical business hotel with an impressive entrance and artwork on the walls. At first, it was a little intimidating as it was full of business people in suits! However, staff made us feel very welcome and were very accommodating. We were 2 hours early for check in and they found us a room that was ready so we could check straight in. We didn't use the restaurant as it was expensive, instead we went into the main Town where there are lots of outside/inside eating restaurants at a set price of 12 Euro each, bargain! Also, if you get stuck for things to do, there is a nice Irish pub dead opposite the hotel selling English beers and showing football etc..!
Don't bother with the "Spa" in the hotel, it's not worth it! 9 euros each for a dirty shower/changing area, sauna, steam room which is out of order, freezing cold tiny plunge pool and a boiling hot jacuzzi! Surrounded by old magazines and loungers with dirty cushions. This was the only let down as I specifically wanted a hotel with a proper spa and this certainly wasn't.
When you check-out there is luggage holding room too, so you can sight-see before you leave knowing your luggage is safe.
The rooms are a good size with very comfy beds, very clean and modern. It had a mini bar which was pricy and as the hotel is in the centre of the business district, I'd advise taking water, snacks etc into your room as there are no shops locally.
In the bathroom is bath/shower, toiletries, lots of towels, hairdryer and a big lit mirror so very handy. The room had a TV with limited English channels but it had a couple. There is a kettle with ample tea and coffee which is always a bonus!
Brussels is cool but I'd advise getting some sort of pocket guide as most of the sights are hidden or hard to find. If you are a couple looking for a quiet break (I wouldn't recommend children at this hotel) and want a nice, clean above average hotel, this is it!

  • Liked — The rooms were very comfotable, clean and modern
  • Disliked — The supposed Spa was a total disappointment

Clean rooms, good service. Nice hotel. The rooms are a bit small, but they are otherwise nice.

Your reservation at this hotel can not be trusted!
Our reservation was guaranteed until 6pm, stated in the confirmation. When we arrived at 5.45pm the hotel told us that the hotel was overbooked and that they did not have a room for us. After waiting for a stressful hour they arranged another hotel which according to them was of equally quality. The other hotel was a terrible three star hotel, far away from this hotel, in a shabby neighborhood with horrible traffic noises.
