“Excellent in most ways but eat elsewhere”
Reviewed 13 June 2012

I have stayed in many of the hotels in this area over the last 18 months as a business travellor and cannot fault this hotel for space, comfort, service etc. UK visitors may miss a kettle and tea bags but the beds are comfortable and breakfast is pretty good. I have however eaten in their brasserie for the 3rd and final time. Too much sodium and too little food. The mains I have been served are consistently oversalted and disappointingly tiny except in cost. Brussels is packed with excellent restaurants and even the average ones are very much better.

Well located within walking distance of the Grand Place etc with good local transport, a very comfortable hotel, with extremely helpful staff. Large room and bathroom, with everything you need, except for a non-slip mat in the bath when using the shower! Could have been a nasty accident. A real plus in having the bedroom made ready for the night, with complimentary biscuits and chocolates on the pillows! If you want a lie-in on a Sunday morning, however, ask for a room at the back, away from the main street, as you will be woken by young, loud people leaving a bar/nightclub very near. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Would certainly recommend a weekend break here.

Room Tip: For quiet weekend mornings, ask for a room away from the main boulevard

The hotel is beautiful being a little older than some but very clean & comfortable, can't say room was small we had a good size with a bathroom that had lots of good products & lovely fluffy robes & slippers. Chocolate on pillow at night & welcome biscuits when we arrived, only complaint being no tea or coffee in the rooom to go with them. Saff were all lovely nothing to much trouble & all spoke very good English. Plenty of choice at breakfast whether you want cooked cerels pancakes or fruit all yum. Would go back to this hotel if we return to Brussels.

The Hotel Le Plaza is in a neighborhood that is complicated. On one hand, you are 15 minutes from the Grand Place and many of the key sights of Brussels. On the other, there are multiple sex shops and a variety of tawdry activities in the near vicinity. The hotel itself is old, dignified and quite nice. The rooms are a bit small and fussy but, all in all, quiet, clean and well-designed. The breakfast is great as is the restaurant which serves very sophisticated food. The staff are impeccably trained even though they seem to be mostly in their twenties. And, the manager, who is in his early thirties, is a constant presence. We were there for a wedding and he and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make every one of us feel just great about the event, the hotel and Brussels. (And, if you stay there, ask to see the theater. Absolutely stunning space with many beautiful touches).

The bottom line is that a smart traveler should not be thrown off by the immediate neighborhood. With modest inconvenience, you can stay in a fine hotel with great service for about 20% less than other top hotels in Brussels.

All best reviews are true. The hotel really has a good location and is an oasis of cosiness and royal elegance. Friendly and qualified staff creates image of Le Plaza. A special delight is in the service of breakfast and a variety of dishes. Very nice place for living, as well as for business meetings.

My wife and I spent five nights here with two other couples during a recent European vacation. We made our reservations via email with the hotel directly and that was a great experience. The staff answered many questions as to travel arrangements, sites etc even before we confirmed our booking. Our check-in was very smooth - all was as promised. The room was spotless and spacious - not something I am used to in Europe. Our friends rooms were equally nice. We were on a non-smoking floor which was another bonus for us. We booked including breakfast which was served in a very nice room with many many choices. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We were able to book a city tour and taxis directly with the front desk. All went off without a hitch. On check-out day we were leaving very early (before breakfast hours) and we inquired if we might get some coffee etc? The team there went over the top. They had coffee waiting as well as a "to go" bag for each of us with pastries, fruit, juice and water. I would definatly stay there again and recommend them without hesitation.
