“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

The hotel is in a great location in the center of the city, right outside the train station, within walking distance of most sights and good restaurants. The room itself was clean and a good size, especially considering the location. The building is beautiful and old, but the rooms have been updated. The bathroom is modern and clean. On checkout, we were able to leave our bags in their storage facility for the day, which was very helpful. The only problem that we had was that the internet didn't work. After calling support, we were able to get it working on one device only.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the courtyard and was quiet

Grand old hotel located in the center of Brussels, it was easy to walk to most things we wanted to see. The staff was excellent Cedric at the front desk was a real help on short stay at the hotel. The only complaint we had was the noise as we were on the front of the hotel and the busy street below, the large windows did not keep the noise out. I would stay here again just ask for a room that is not on the front, they did offer for us to move but we declined. The lobby is old world and something to see, this is just a great hotel.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the rear of hotel

Having read some of the reviews here we were a little bit apprehensive that we may have had an old-fashioned, run-down room but it turns out we needn't have worried! We were in room 6067 up on the sixth floor and it was excellent. Very spacious, flat screen telly, lots of storage space. The fridge with its free drinks (2 x beer, 2 x coke, 2 x water) re-stocked daily was a real bonus. The bathroom was massive too - two sinks, full bath, the usual complimentary toiletries.

The rest of the hotel is amazing too - very grand. Lots of marble in reception, monogrammed carpets in the corridors, even a red carpet on the pavement outside leading guests to the hotel's revolving doors!

Breakfast was legendary! Probably the best I've ever had in any hotel. You get shown to a table and are the served coffee or tea, which is re-filled throughout your meal. It's then a help yourself buffet. Hot stuffs were available - bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns, baked beans, eggs. Then the usual cold bits but with the added bonus of smoked salmon amongst it! Superb - and we didn't have to worry about getting lunch!

The hotel is well-located being within walking distance of all the main tourist bits we wanted (with the exception of the Atomium, of course) and the De Bouckere tram stop is right outside the hotel door (very handy if you've arrived in the city by EuroStar). The Anspach is a busy road and so there plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.

We paid just under €140 (<£120) for two nights and We really enjoyed our stay here. I'd would happily stay again and recommend anyone else to do the same.

I stayed here for two nights with my friend to do a bit of Christmas shopping and drinking. We booked a twin room but when going to our room we found that we had been upgraded to a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms. The room was beautiful with a mirror that was also a TV. The whole hotel was amazing from the entrance to the breakfast.

A fan of older hotels, I was pleased with my stay at the Metropole. Hard to fault the marble and wood lobby, just beautiful.
I booked a single room and it was ample in size and laid out for convenience. The small fridge was stocked daily with beer, water and Cokes. Bathroom spotless; TV had a few BBC and news stations in English which provided a great night lite. The staff kept it clean throughout the stay. The only slight fault was some peeling wallpaper in spots.
The Wifi worked very well. Well enough for use by my skype type device to make a number of calls back to the States.
The breakfast was nice with hot and cold offerings. It did not seem to change from day to day, but got the morning off to a good start. Coffee was very good, though refills were hard to get on one occasion.
Desk staff, doormen and porters were great. To those who may have encountered any rudeness, I say you'll get as good as you give. These folks were a joy. Very early check-in was not a problem; very nice after a long flight and trip into the city.
Location excellent. Great eats and shops within walking distance and metro just out the door if you want to go to another area of the city.
Hope to visit again.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April 2014. we found the hotel to be very well appointed, the rooms were lovely and the breakfast excellent with a good choice. I'd make two comments however- we had problems gaining advice using the e-mail shown on the website (but the hotel very kindly gave us an upgrade in recompense) and the antique lift, although super to look at, can very easily trap your fingers in you're not careful.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a Eurostar trip to Brussels.
The hotel is in a good location and an easy walk to most sights and restaurants.
We upgraded to a Privilege Room and it was superb. A huge light airy room with a large balcony and beautiful interior decor.
You must order room service as out 2 burgers arrive complete with 2 waiters and red roses!
Breakfast was superb although there appeared to be a mysterious method of obtaining a second cup of coffee which I struggled to master.
The only negative? The reception desk. Although polite and friendly it was totally disorganised
And check-in took far to long, considering there were 2 receptionists and only 3 parties checking in. This area is the only think we could fault in an otherwise wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Try room service!
