“Relax and watch the world go by!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Room excellent- no noise from other guests due to hallway leading from room door to bedroom door. Staff welcoming and helpful. Cocktails and outside area super, relax and watch the world go by. Restaurant - atmosphere and decoration fab, although prices a little high! Close by to main square. Would stay again.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Metropole Hotel, it was a beautiful hotel with an amazing location. We were able to walk everywhere for shopping, eating and sight seeing. They welcome you with free beverages in your room both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, the restaurant is beautiful and the bar is a very comfortable but upscale place to hang out. We stayed there for hours listening to music and drinking Irish Creams. =)

Make sure you do your research about how to get to the hotel from the airport, we took an unmarked taxi and it cost us $200 euros, when the hotel got us a taxi it was only around $50 euros.

Room Tip: I looked on Kayak and found a random site that had rooms that were half the price of all the other t...

Excellent location, within walking distance to Grand Place and the Central train station that can take you to Bruges, Ghent etc (Gare Centrale). As many other commenters noted, the lobby of the hotel is impressive. I also enjoyed the free breakfast and thought the service was very good there. Only thing keeping this from a five star review is the room - it was sufficient but probably not up to the five-star rating. Would definitely recommend staying here though. Fairly priced, safe to walk around, close to main tourist attractions and a lot of good restaurants, bars and clubs nearby.

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Metropole Hotel during our stay in Brussels. I was a little nervous before getting there because I got the room for so cheap in such a good location, but after getting there my fears were put to rest. The service was great, our room recently renovated (and huge & beautiful) and the city noise was not even noticeable on the 5th floor. Parts of the hotel look a bit dated (like from the 80's), but I think they renovated the rooms first and are starting work on the common areas of the hotel currently.

We were very impressed at the old world nostalgic lobby but equally surprised and disappointed by some what run down room we were allocated which was in dire need of renovating and not worth the money we paid. The marble vanity in bathroom was cracked , the desk stained by multiple water marks, the bed saggy the pillows rather small and not adequate for the large bed. The shower head was very dated water pressure poor. The window looked into internal court yard . No external window. The breakfast was adequate smoked salmon, fresh strawberries. Crossions tasted as if they were straight from freezer, too dry and not fresh. Free mini bar which if you did not drink, was not replenished . Great location only 10 minutes brisk walk from centre. Close to lots of food outlets and shops. Worst part was rude waiter at street level restaurant. He was so rude and condescending we walked out without ordering , he left a bad impression on us and we refused to eat at the hotel other than breakfast . We will not return to this hotel, room too dated and in need of repairs and refurbishment, and waiter rude.

Very little imagination is required to conjure the grandiose, luxurious splendor that once represented the Métropole Hotel in the 1890s. The hotel retains much of its structural features and design aesthetics with beneath its high ceilings and spacious rooms finished with panelling, polished teak, marble and gilded bronzes.

Yet the French Renaissance is history, and Métropole Hotel retains much the old world charm, intermingled with most travellers expectation of the modern - free wife, large screen-digital televisions and super helpful staff. The grand, quaintness of this hotel more than makes up for the weary furnishings, and general tender, loving care that must be very difficult to apply to such a huge, aged hotel with so many nooks and crannies.

So, Métropole Hotel is the the shiny, slick, ultra-modern and soul-less hotels one comes to expect in major city centres and business districts, but I fell a little in love or like with the hotel - give me character, history and provenance any day of day of the weel, over squeaky clean, but heartless hotels. So, if you think like me then even one night's stay at Métropole Hotel is recommended!

AND, on business party and I were super pleased when on check-in we were advised beers, softdrinks and water in the fridge in our room were complimentary. Nice touch Métropole Hotel - now I will expect the same the next time I return!

Room Tip: If you sense of direction is a poor as mind, be patient about getting to your room. I took 2 wrong t...

As you enter the hotel you are blown away by the fantastic foyer, reception and restaurant. The old lift and all the surrounds make you feel like a king. Our stay was brilliant. Staff were terrific, room magic ( ever had a chandelier) and the bed unreal. It really was as spelt out in the reviews we read on TripAdvisor before booking. Definitely recommend it.
Oh and I forgot its location. Very close to everything.

Room Tip: All would be great.
