We have just returned from a 4 day break and stayed here specifically for its location. We were not disappointed. Its a great base to explore from and we had a lovely room. I agree with some of the other reviewers the hotel needs to review certain policies. We were surprised to have to pay 8 euros a day for tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The cups, saucers and spoons were removed each day and nothing refilled so each day we had to call room service and sign again. The refills were limited and very basic. The room was small but it was clean and not tired as some travelers experienced. When we checked in we were given a smoking room-we only opened the door and gagged on the smell of stale tobacco, however we went straight back to reception and were allocated another room. Again, it would be sensible to ask if you want a smoking room-especially now as very few hotels still offer this choice. The new room we were allocated was fine even though it was near the smoking rooms on the 2nd floor. The road outside can be noisy but no more excessively so than any other city center hotel. The breakfast buffet was excessively expensive despite a buy one get the second half price, so just walk round the corner. Even in Grand Place we got a great breakfast for 9.90 euros. We would stay here again for the great location and we got a great deal through Top Secret Hotels.....

Room Tip: Specify non smoking

Ideal location for exploring centre of historic Brussels.

Reception staff very helpful,

Good size room for city centre,

Car parking under hotel available at 25 euros per day (24hrs). From there, most things of interest to a tourist are reachabable on foot.

Breakfast, unless booked as part of a package, is a little expensive at 30 euros pp.

Would certainly use again when visiting Brussels.

When we arrived at the hotel the first room we were put in was dirty, the throw on the bed had stains on it, the wall was filthy just general a dump!! We were then moved that wasn't much better, just an very overrated hotel...
I was furious as we had paid £180 per night and I would have paid £30, it has never been a 5star hotel the only thing that is good is the location but to be honest so are most of the hotels!!!
This is very run down and should def been re graded to a 3star.

Myself and 4 friends stayed at the Royal Windsor Hotel last weekend. We all agreed that the Hotel was lovely. Staff were very polite and helpful and we had rooms at he back which were quiet, helps after a long day!

Location is fantastic too!

The only I would say, which maybe slightly negative, would be that the rooms may require a bit of modernisation.

Room Tip: Try and get the rooms at the back or facing the court yard but not facing the Main Street.

We spent the last 3 nights of our holidays in this hotel in Brussels. It was an average, adequate hotel and it is centrally located near the Grand Place (surely one of the most beautiful squares in all of Europe) and with 'gare central' practically across the road the metro was very close. The Grand Sablon with its bars, cafes, chocolate shops etc is a stroll away.
The room was small for a '5 star' hotel, the beds were particularly narrow but comfortable. The bathroom was again small but well stocked with the necessities. The air-conditioning worked well. The house keeping staff were very courteous and efficient. The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide range of food, both hot and cold, and the service was good. We ate in the hotel on Sunday evening and it was not great, very basic and expensive for what we got. The lifts were the best I have seen in any hotel - I know that may sound strange but it is true, they were fast and clean which is a plus.
There is a 3 story underground garage at the hotel which cost €25 a day, there is however no lift (at least I could not find one) which goes beyond the first level to either of the two lower parking levels, remember this is '5 star' - climbing stairs in the stifling heat was not a comfortable experience. The staff were, well again to be candid, they were there - not particularly helpful nor unhelpful.
I think this should be rated 4 star at maximum.

Central, fairly basic classic European hotel. Not very work friendly (work area, desk, lighting). Probably better for tourists. Small gym - but very few users.

Very unhappy with how they handled my credit card. Checked out after a week's+ stay. Paid my bill. Still some days later Royal Windsor Hotel charged my card an extra 400+ EUR. Called them at once, but could get no answer and was asked to call later as there was no cashier available to tell me what had happened or why. Have written to them. Hope this will not prove an expensive mistake.

We started out with a small superior business room that was beautifully appointed and quite satisfactory. We were up-graded to a junior suite when the television did not work. The two-room suite was spacious and lovely. It had a nice view of the city and in particular an active street leading to the Grand Place. We were on the fifth floor so there was not a noise issue. We could see the chapel steeple light display from both the living room and the bedroom. All of the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful including reception, concierge and bell staff. We arranged our Ghent and Brugge tour with the concierge and got additional advice on other touring possibilities. We had the breakfast buffet one morning, however, unless big eating is your thing, I would not recommend it for the price. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is within walking to various sites and the train station. The piano music in the bar added a pleasant touch. It would be my hotel choice when I return.

Room Tip: Let the clerk know if you are concerned about noise, they will accommodate you with an appropriate r...
