This is a great area to wander through shops and to stop and have lunch or a beer. We had a great lunch at the Leffe bar and all the good chocolate shops are here.

It is a nice neighborhood, very cosy. There are many nice cafes, restaurants and boutiques around the place. A must see in brussels, away from all the Grande Place tourist crowds.

We found the Grand Place to be too crowded and not really enjoyable with all the restaurants and bars being intolerably packed.

The Place de Sablon is a very different animal though - with the flea markets and pretty gardens and church to visit. There are the vast array of chocolatiers to choose from as well a good selection of bars and restaurants with outside seating. Some are good and some are lousy - but that's the same wherever you go in the world.

This is by far one of the prettiest spaces in Brussels. Though in the summer months, busy with tourists (but that is the same everywhere). Historic houses with art galleries, good bars and some of the best chocolates. In December, when the lights are on, by far, one of the most romantic square in Europe.

And it didn't disappoint. Always a little frayed at the edges look but charming in its own way. The menu can be rather limited but what they do, they do exceptionally well.
Friendly service, fantastic food at decent prices I would recommend to everyone who loves their food and isn't intimidated by old things.
