When you read other reviews of this hotel you should bear in mind that it costs less than £40 a night to stay here and not to expect luxury. Having said that I stayed for two nights and it suited me fine. They have wifi for 3 euros and hour which is cheap compared to everywhere else I stayed and the en suite was clean and had quite a nice shower over a little bath. The neighbourhood is quiet enough at night and I felt safe on the street as a female taveller, even though it was after 10pm when I arrived on the first night. The location is excellent and it's a short and easy walk to attractions such as the Manneken Pis and Grand Place, where there are some really nice bars and restaurants. The room was a little stuffy and a bit overly wood clad, but absolutlely fine if all you're using it for is sleeping. It is true that hall can be quite dark if you can't find the light switch, but there is also a lift if you don't want to brave it. Would definitly recommend to budget travellers.

We stayed one night in early April 2010. We booked two rooms next to the main street which was a little noisy. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children (11 years and 6 years). Parking was extremely difficult to find on the street as the hotel does not have its own parking. The breakfast was not very good. The foods did not seem fresh. Given all that, though, the price was very reasonable. The location was ideal as it was within walking distance from Grand Place. The rooms are decenmt-not dirty but not really clean either. The stairs are very narrow.

I had no choice at the time as i was one of those unlucky traveler who got stuck in Europe because of the Volcano in Iceland. Arrived Brussel a bit late and the next connection will be the next day. got the tel no from the list of hotel brochure given by the info center. and the hotel is the only cheap ones available for the night. took it... had to walk around 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. a bit terrifying as i'm a female walking alone with two big bags which obviously signal me as a traveler. the whole walking experience left me wishing i had paid extra for a much safer nearer hotel to the train station. the room was really small... enough for a single bed with bathroom and a desk with tv hanging overhead.. the window overlooked a back stairs for the staff i think and made me think whether i want to leave it open or not as the room was a bit stuffy. room is clean. bathroom too although there's a slight musky smell.. i guess because of old building smell??? there's enough shops around to get adequate food. convenience shop is just across the street. what bothers me is that the area is packed with people sitting and hanging around outside the cafe's around the hotel but all men... it was a rare sight to see women walking around.. bit creepy. luckily i only need to stay there one night... phew..

This is a good deal for Brussels and probably best suited for a short stopover. We stayed one night on our second trip to the city and found the hotel very convenient for Midi station.

Arriving late at night we felt perfectly safe walking the 5 - 10 minutes from the station. People do shelter around some of the exits from Gare du Midi but I wouldn't describe this area as dangerous (or any more gloomy than anywhere else in Brussels). Stalingrad is a wide avenue with a central walkway and some fantastic 19th century buildings. It is a vibrant area with a community feel and a good selection of Mediterranean and North African cafes. There were a couple of traditional pubs opposite the hotel.

The Aristote is typical of a 2-star hotel and a little run-down. We liked both members of staff that we met. Corridor lighting is on timer switches so expect much peering about in dark unfamiliar spaces for the glow of the red light on the switch. Our room was small with one small window and had a new TV and hairdryer. Everything that you would be likely to touch in the bedroom or bathroom was clean and fresh but corners and ledges, particularly in the bathroom, were very dusty and the place could have done with a deep clean. The TV remote was secured to the wall with a wire...

The hotel was quiet at night and we weren't disturbed by noise but the walls are quite thin and the plumbing quite old. Personally I found the mattress too hard and woke up feeling like I'd slept on the floor. We were pleasantly surprised by breakfast which was served in a lovely bright downstairs tavern area and was a large continental buffet that also included eggs.

It was awful. The neighborhood was dangerous and gloomy. The rooms were disgusting. They were tiny with one small window, the TV only seemed to work sporadically, the bathroom has mold everywhere. There was only one small lock on the door and I felt in danger the entire time. Especially since you can hear every single person on your floor. I checked out one day early and they still charged me for the second night even though within one hour of checking in I told them I was leaving. It was worth it to leave. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. They also charged a lot of $$$ for wireless internet.
