We enjoyed la mia cucina so much. It was no tourist trap, because we were the only tourists there. There were just guests from Brussels. It's not very central but easy to find. The inkeeper was so friendly, he explained the whole menu card to all the guests because it was written in italian. He was not fluent in english though. It was really high quality food and not that expensive.

Great getaway from the Grand Place crowds and so worth the 10 min Taxi ride. We went on a Sunday evening and had a wonderful meal. We sat in a lovely garden in the back. The owner Fillipo (who is such nice man) brought us a lentil salad starter. We then ordered the octopus appetizer to share and then we both had fish. I had the baked Dorado and my wife had another fish (forgot what it was called) stuffed w/shrimp. Both fresh and cooked perfectly. For dessert we shared the homemade Tiramisu. Ask Fillipo for his homemade Lemoncello to top it all off.

A pleasant surprise in an area off the beaten tracks of Brussels.
The menu is explained in great detail by the host, underlining the herbal home made spicing, so typical of the Sicilian tradition. The "salmon ham" was a delicious treat, as it was the tender carré of lamb. The flambé apple tart was not up to my expectations. As it was the bill, probably a bit too expensive for the overall experience.
To be generous, a very good restaurant, but be prepared to pay some extra euro for it.

We ate here twice on our recent weekend trip to Brussels and had two very pleasant meals with excellent Italian wines - one from Puglia, the other from Sicily. As others have noted, the patron is a real character who has created a little corner of Catania in the less lively suburbs of Brussels. We thought the rack of lamb in particular was beautifully cooked.
